gummo-
kind of odd, doesn't have a plot as such. works in a sort of observational sense where it attempts to document society as we are offered a glimpse into the grimier aspects of the trailer trash world of america.I liked the different filming techniques used, still I did feel certain parts were just trying a little too hard to be weird or profound. and there were too many dead cats

Gummo is amazingly disturbing, the kid eating spaghetti in the filthy bath, with a slice of bacon taped to the wall, is one of the weirdest things I've seen in a film

^ I didn't find it as disturbing as some people have said it would be. but that bath water was disgusting lol.
thursday- just finished watching. I liked it, the story of a man trying to hide his past and move on in life. lots of little black humour style moments. one of those films which is worth a watch but the average person will have never heard of it. |

Fright Night (2011)
Is there a 'Worst remake in the history of cinema with no redeeming qualities at all' thread? I'm not a big fan of the original but this makes it look like an epic. |

Brothers [2009]. Director: Jim Sheridan
8/10 Tobey Maguire as a marine returning from Afghanistan psychologically scarred. Jake Gyllenhaal plays the ex-con brother and Natalie Portman plays Maguire's wife. Great performances by all three. As this is an adpatation of a Danish original there aren't too many laughs around. |

A Lonely Place To Die - apart from the cinematography, dull, fairly two-dimensional characters and full of plot holes. 5/10
Keeping Mum - thoroughly enjoyable black comedy with the almighty Maggie Smith. 8/10 |
