Good to read that two of them have reached such a great age. Hopefully the youngest of the three will too.

I am sorry to read of the above accidents, spiney2.

Some people might suggest that you should have a cat which - due to road safety issues - is kept inside (i.e. a house cat).

I've got two house cats and care a lot about them-would love a dog too-have had other pets as well-I just like most animals I guess-apart from spiders!

Another male cat owner here, I know several other men who also have cats, come to think about it I don't know any blokes who don't like cats.

According to the cat age calculator, 21 cat years is 101 human years, which makes more sense.

Seems not. In my office full of women I'm the only one who does. The others prefer dogs.

My Dad wasn't keen on getting a kitten (Winnie) because he thought he was allergic to cats. We got her anyway and he absolutely adored her. He was devastated when he got a call from our neighbour to say that our Winnie had been hit by a car. He was the last person to see her, I didn't want to see her like that.

As you know, Winnie had kittens and we kept Bungle. Dad loves her too.

Sorry to hear about the stories of peoples cats being hit by cars.

Cats usually are pretty street savvy, as in having common sense.

Unfortunately, some car drivers are not so much.

I'm pretty sure the majority of the time I come second in line to the cat in my hubbys affection.

He adores her and she him - I'm just someone she tolerates in order to be fed.

She will sit on his chest for hours with her face as close to him as she can get but won't sit on me.

In the middle of the night its my side of the bed she is scratching and yowling at to be lifted up only to then go settle at his feet!

My dad always hated cats until we got our first back in the early 90's....well he threatened to leave if we got a cat, so we got two!! But from that day he was a big old soppy cat man and loves nothing better than play fighting with one of their current cats Davey!

My husband also never used to be a fan. His sisters cat had a litter and I pursuaded him we should have one..in the end we got two! He adores our cats and I think he gives them more affection than I ever get Our little cat Bella passed away a few weeks ago and hubby was just as devastated as I was - he really misses her.

I've asked about getting another cat in the future and he hasn't said no so hopefully we can get another furry friend to add to the famiy!

My brother has his own cat and she is a typical man's cat she isn't too keen on women My Dad always curses the 'god damn cat's' but he grooms all of them every night (they queue up) and lets one of them sneek upstairs and lie on the landing whilst he used to work on the computer. My OH loves our cat sometimes I think more than me

My OH never liked cats, he would say they are only good on the BBQ I am a Persian cat lover and after my ex took our last one, I've been missing a cat around the place for nearly 2 years now. So I showed him photos of cute Persians and he said OK, I could get one.

Cue me searching round all the rescue centres till I found one. When I brought this 7 month old ball of fluff home, he melted. Turns out he has been badly scratched by a cat when he was younger and actually had a phobia of them. Well, this little timid thing I brought home was shaking and more scared of him. Now, 6 weeks on, he loves our fluffy ball so much. He went out for the first time last week and he was stressing me out every 5 minutes wondering where he was and getting really upset when he still hadn't returned home after 2 hours. Of course the cat came home 4 hours later and he was so relieved.

He is now well and truly converted to kitty love
