Real men love cats!

I'm convinced that some who do not like cats deliberately run them over.

(I.E. make no effort to avoid them).

I have a cat,........ and a goatee beard, have always been a 'cat person' when our Charlie had to be PTS last year after being hit by a car, I, (a 57 year old biker) sobbed my heart out,
We now have a new cat 'Jimi' he and our dog 'Floyd' are the best of friends and we love them both to bits,

ive just come in to say " hiya" to OHG and that I also lost my cat ( tiggy ) last year and do they heck all men hate cats . Tig was the best furry chum a guy could ask for . Why would I hate cats ?, theyre great .

Hiya mate, in my experience blokes who say they don't like cats have never had one, My dad used to hate em, until we had one, and then he converted to a cat lover,
All this stuff about cats not showing affection is usually spouted by those who have never had one,
There is no law that says you can't like cats AND dogs, and it doesn't make you less 'macho' if you admit that you like cats,

Never known a man who doesn't like cats - known a few women who don't, known a few women who tolerate cats but prefer dogs, but every (male) friend I have loves cats.

Better that than put human life at risk.

I've had cats for the past 12 years, but always had a problem with my ex-partners taking custody of them when we split. My wife did say that men who like cats are generally better partners.

While dogs will do pretty much anything to fit into a pack, a cat is generally quite particular about who they take to, even their owner. You can get a dog, treat it like crap and it will still try and please you, but with a cat they'll just up and off and find someone else. Her reasoning is if a guy already has a cat, and he has a fairly decent relationship with it, and when it sees him it wants fuss and to play with him and doesn't just use the house as free food and a hotel, then he's a keeper. It means he'll also put the effort into building a relationship with a woman and will treat them right. A cat will also show the guy has a softer side as well, and generally a caring nature.

The irony of my liking of cats is I didn't really like cats until I rescued a kitten from some idiots who were about to set it on fire in a box on the park. It kind of took to me after that, and was my shadow in the house, and I discovered cats seem to have as much (if not more) personality than dogs. I now prefer cats over dogs, and did before my wife told me her views (which was after we were married).

As for not knowing any men who own cats, I'd say about 50% of the guys I know have cats, and most of them owned a cat before getting in a relationship. It's not as uncommon as you'd think, it just depends on whether a guy will admit it or whether he'd prefer to keep his macho persona on.

No. My Mum brought a cat when I was a toddler and we had him in the family for 17 years before he became ill. Up until then he had a 100% unblemished health record but I'm guessing being elderly took its toll quick. I cried like a baby when he got put to sleep.

We had dogs during that time and have got dogs now and I've not really been as interested in them (love them to pieces) but cats aren't as dependant I suppose.

Sounds like my ideal man. Especially if he's greying.

I like cats too. I prefer the way they show affection to that of dogs. Dogs shove about, lick and get excited (now't wrong with that but I only have a small house) and cats just gently rub and dab their nose in greeting.

I'm female and have 2 dogs, my boyfriend has a cat, it was bought for the children 17 years ago and they have all moved out now.
He has adopted the newest puppy and when we buy a home together it will be after the cat has gone. I don't like them and won't live with one.
Reasons I don't like cats:

Scratch your walls, furniture etc.
Shed hair and hair balls (my dogs don't moult)
Cannot be taken for a walk/run/play fetch with
Come to you when they choose, not when you do (some people love that independence)
Current cat known to me sits on your lap and drools - yuk!
Cats more fussy about food.
Cats cannot be taken on holiday to the coast and have fun on the beach

I know loads of men with cats who love them dearly.

In fact one of the few times I've ever seen my Dad cry was when our cats have died. He balled his eyes out when our beloved cat of 24 years was put to sleep and he normally sheds a tear when the others go.

My OH was very much a dog man (he was neutral) towards cats) and now he loves them. I really wouldn't trust a man who didn't like cats, I know that's weird but it's true.

I must be really untrustworthy then, I have two (Cats that is, not goatee beards - I only have one of those).

My bf has two cats, he makes more fuss over them than he does over me. lol but I love them just as equally as he does.

Off the top of my head I can think of several men who don't hate cats - my OH, his Dad, OH's 4 brothers, my Dad and my 2 brothers to name just a few!!

I'm a bloke and I love Cats. I wouldn't have one as a pet though due to their short lifespan, same with Dogs etc.

Not until I'm older anyway.
