One of my cats, Beefy, has become a vomiting puking nightmare recently.

He has always been a little bit susceptible to vomiting. We had a big problem with it a year or so back, but we found the cause of it then was him eating the spider plant on the windowsill and then vomiting afterwards. Moving the plant somewhere in accessible stopped it pretty much completely.

But for the last few months he keeps having bad periods of puking lots again. He will puke 4 or 5 times over a week or so and then be ok again for a bit. It seems to be mainly undigested catfood, no hair/grass etc.

His diet has always been a mixture of supermarket bought catfoods. (both wet and dry) Pretty much anything from Gourmet Pearl to supermarket own, depending on whats on offer. I can see no correlation with any particular brand/type of food.

He has a sister (Lamby) who is treated and fed identically and she is fine.

Any ideas or do we need to go to the vets? (prefer to avoid, not because of cost, but hard to find the time at the moment)

I would recommend a trip to the vet, just to rule out anything serious.

I did have the same problem with my Charlie though. The vet said he had probably developed an allergy to a common ingredient in pet foods, most likely beef or wheat, and recommended putting him on James Wellbeloved dry food. (You can get it from Pets at Home and my local Wilko's now stock it as well).

He never brought that up, and after a while and a bit of experimentation I found that I could feed him wet food as long as I steered clear of any that had 'cereals' listed in the ingredients.

Hope that helps, might be a place to start anyway

My Tabitha vomited, periodically, all her life, furballs. However, last March I noticed some vomit round the house that was more watery in nature and when I actually saw her vomit one day (with 2 cats in the house, I wasn't 100% sure that Tabitha was the vomiter) I decided to bring her to the vet for a check up as she also seemed just a bit off colour.

Unfortunately it transpired that she had quite a large tumour and she didn't survive long after her diagnosis.

Vomiting is usually not serious but it can be a sign that something is very wrong. I just knew that the later, watery vomiting wasn't normal for my cat. If you are worried I would advise a trip to the vet, even just so you can be reassured.
