For technical support you will need to contact Comet on 08712 009 009 as it is one of their exclusives manufactured by JVC Japan to Comet specifications. There is no point calling JVC UK Customer services as they do not have any technical documentation or any access to spares and user manuals.

If Comet fob you off you need to be firm and say they are to provide support due to having exclusive rights.

Don't you mean it's a cheap nasty set (probably Vestel) that Comet buy in and have badged? - I seriously doubt JVC have anything to do with it.

Even when JVC were actually selling sets in the UK most of them were just cheap badged Vestel's.

Presumably Comet have simply bought the UK rights to use the JVC badge on TV's?.

Nigel that is incorrect and the set is made by JVC Japan for Comet. The agreement between the 2 companies for for Comet to agree to provide all aspects of after sales service, technical support, spares and warranty queries, which is why JVC UK has no data on these models.

Trust me I know this is the case

OK, I'll take your word for it - but it's highly strange that JVC only rarely made their own TV's but should start making them for Comet after JVC had pulled out of the UK.

Obviously if Comet were just badging Vestel as usual they would be responsible for all aspects of the sets, as they are for other badged sets.

Well like most companies I am sure they like to make out their brand is still seen in whatever form they feel necessary, and if they can get someone else to provide support to the end user, then they are saving a fortune. Lets put it this way support in the UK is not exactly the best from most companies yet alone JVC.
