I'm glad they found time to put this tribute together...There will also be an Etta James tribute (Alicia Keys has been confirmed as a performer), so 2 legendary vocalists will be honored at the same night...

I thought I read Chaka Khan was also comfirmed for the Whitney tribute or has that turned out to be a rumour?

I think it's fair to say the night just became Whitney Houston's.

It'll be quite a sad night with a Whitney tribute, an Etta tribute, possibly an Amy Winehouse tribute and I heard Bruce and the E Street Band are paying tribute to Clarence Clemons.

It would be great if Adele also joined the Whitney tribute

I think it'd be amazing if they have Jennifer Hudson and Chaka Khan lead the tribute, then invite a range of singers to join them. Just imagine Adele, Beyonce, Gaga, Christina, Kelly Clarkson etc. all singing Whitney together.

Let it be raw, celebratory and emotional, then have the slick tribute to the Oscars where they can have a bit of a Bodyguard mash up.

It's no one's night anyway. It's the night of Musical Talent. The night isn't just for one person.

Amy, Etta and Whitney.
I hope they all get tributes.
All greats in their own individual ways.

I think Adele will dominate the awards.

I think Katy Perry and Rihanna will both have awful vocal performances, if they are both confirmed as performers (though I heard Rihanna could be with Coldplay).

Highly disappointed that they wouldn't let the Foos just rock the show on their own, they have to throw them in with some stupid DJ

Says it all about mainstream music, really. Foos would tear the house down if they were allowed to perform on their own.

With the death of Whitney, is anyone else feeling a little deflated and a but meh about the whole thing? I'm sure it'll be great but I bet the tension in the place will be raw.

There should be a celebration of her life

Yeah, and the pre grammy gala showed it, Kelly rowland and toni braxton were visibly upset. She was an idol to them, and they were in tears (and had been).

Definitely.

Even if people try/want to be upbeat, they'll be reminded constantly. The red carpet will have EVERYONE being asked about Whitney, then the ceremony will have the tribute performance and no doubt every other acceptance speech referencing her.

I have a feeling if anyone tries to pull a stunt/focus in any way they'll be faced with harsh criticism. Nicki Minaj will be the one to watch, I think.

I agree. There will definitely be a different air about it tonight.

I hope everyone stays classy. No boobage from Katy, grinding from Rihanna, ****ery from Nicki, etc.

Well, Nicki has hired Lauriann Gibson to work with her on something and LAG was giving it hype the other day. No doubt there was/is a stunt planned. Apparently involving her male alter ego, Roman. ()

LAG? Oh. My. Gawd.

Sorry, but this has the potential to be car-crash TV.
