When I say successful, I don't mean commercially, I mean such as tours, fan bases etc.

I used to think Leona Lewis but she's on a downward spiral.

For me, Cher Lloyd, JLS, One Direction and Alexandra Burke are the only ones worth listening to anymore.

What do you think?

Rebecca Ferguson has done very well. Her album has done better than Matt's and is still around in the top 40 selling moderatley. It's sold 400k and she has yet to even release a second single, so god knows how much more she will when it comes to single 3 and 4.

Her fan base isn't exactly huge though, I mean she has the least Twitter followers out of the top 4 XF acts in 2010.

So what if she doesn't have a huge twitter followers? Writing whether you have been to the toilet or popped out for a fag to millions of people, that doesn't sell records or make an impact on your fanbase or change your success. A bit of an ignorant way of seeing her success personally.

I wish Rebecca well, but she's very underrated, she hasn't done the big push like the others.

i'd say the complete opposite. She had a big selling album. Think about it. 400k in 3 1/2 weeks (they timed the release perfectly, xmas and all). But vocally she irritates me (only my opinion).

She had a lot of fans and they are from the older generation I do believe, as her lack of twitter followers shows.

I think Alexandra, Rebecca, and potentially Leona (oh and Misha B!!!) have the best chances of being around in 20 years. Alex for her drive and ability to remain musically current whilst being able to jump into r&b, light hip hop and soul once dance music fades out; Rebecca is a big albums seller and is a good singer songwriter, and thats where the money is at - one name - Adele (nuff said). Leona, depends on her material and management, part of the reason alex left syco and got a joint deal with RCA. If leona doesnt act like the star, then she'll fade out. ATM she's a great singer with one big global hit and album. And a good 2nd album that only did well (really well) in the UK. Misha B has got skill, rapping skills, swagger (which counts for a lot in rap) and a good singing voice, and a good platform to start a brilliant career from. As long as she works with the right people she most certainly become a worldwide recording artist as she wants to be.

oh and the sad thing is, leona should've gone on a worldwide theatre tour with her debut, to secure her fanbase like alexandra did. It really made me want to buy her new material after seeing her live (that voice!!)

And because of not doing that, there wasnt any hype (plus ok material and naff management). Syco seemed to think leona was a mix of mariah and whitney and her name alone would sell records, but it doesnt.

If we're going by critical success then it's going to be Rebecca Ferguson. Her album achieved wide spread acclaim and to be honest she's the only act from the current crop of X-Factor stars that I could see appearing on the likes of Jools Holland or something.

Fanbases obviously go to the likes of One Direction & JLS due to the age range. However, I'd also argue the likes of Rebecca and Leona (discounting Collide) appeal more to that adult contemporary audience who are the ones that buy albums. And Olly Murs appeals to both young and old, in my opinion.

On a worldwide scale however, Leona is the one to beat. Although not as relevant in many international markets anymore, she did have a monster selling album with Spirit. Though sadly, they didn't capitalize on this and she's in a tricky situation now. Will be interesting to see how this develops.

So far Leona and JLS.

Alex B has done well but she has the potential to be an international star imo.
I'm surprised by Olly's sucess with his second album!

1D have done well in a short space of time (Brit nominated /rapidly becoming a global teen sensation) and Rebecca has critical acclaim as well as a high selling album.

well thats wrong. Youre equating her vocals with success. And she is soon to be eclipsed.

Leona

JLS

Olly Murs
Alexandra
One Direction

Rebecca
In sales, its leona, Alexandra, JLS, Shayne ward, Olly, 1Direction, Rebecca, Cher, Matt. and leona's star is fading. Her management and label are killing her career.

Its Alex, Leona, JLS and Shayne ward have done best. Olly has been very successful...incredible and odd too. 1D IMO will become the biggest of the lot sadly. Good luck to them, but simon shouldve put more work into alex and leona to give them long term success globally. Alex's debut shouldve been released in the US in early 2010 and Bad boys out there in October 2009. Notice how he wasted no time with leona at all. He should take them all globally.

I can only see Alex, Leona and Rebecca maintaining a long and successful career whereas 1D are the new JLS, flavour of the month but another boyband will come and 1D will be resorted to churning out album after album in order to stay noticed (ahem...JLS who's quality in songs have gone way down in my estmations)

On a side note, the attitude Leona Lewis gets really irritates me, when she won the XF everybody loved her and wanted her to be successful, but after one sniff of success people are so desperate to see her fail when we should be getting behind someone with talent! Also, people complain that Leona is boring and predictable but when she delivers something like Collide people claim she's alienating her fans - the poor girl cant win! RANT OVER LOL
