Dumplings...
I'm making a stew today and of course dumplings too. I like mine stodgy and gooey, my mum used to do them in the oven and crisp them up though. How do you like yours?

Light and fluffy and made with vegetarian suet, on the stove top not in the oven as I am not keen on them with a crust.

I like my soggy done on the stove. If I do a casserole in the oven I like to put savory scones on the top. Actually I haven't done that for a while so thats one meal sorted this week.

I like mine crispy. I sometimes turn them over in the stew to colour top and bottom.

I love dumplings, but have never made them. Now that I finally have a slow cooker, I was thinking I should take the plunge. Do any of you good people have a dumpling recipe you could pass on?

I like them crispy and soft so it's the best of both worlds when they are dropped in the mince

I did them in a slow cooker once and they weren't cooked after about 4 hours so had to finish them in the oven! |

Use the recipe on the suet packet. Delish. Only sometimes I add herbs and or mustard powder. Add the water very slowly and mix lightly with a fork until it comes together but not solid like a rock.
