Never used this software before but must say it 'flakiest' software I have installed on my PC for years

I have a pretty new windows 7 home PC and this software just does not like my PC at all

the first time I installed it it worked (very slowly) and managed to upgrade my phones firmware

every time I try to run it not it takes about 1 minute to fire up the software and 2 out 3 it does not fire up at all

when it does fire up it tells me my device is not connected after countless pulling the USB cable in and outs and still not connecting I uninstalled the software then reinstalled it and still no good

and about an hour ago while playing with it trying to get it working it decided to have an update dated today
Hoorah I thought might work after this

after another endless bout of USB in and out scenario it finally detects my galaxy note 'Yee Ha' it finally see's it

joy is short lived wanting to transfer a podcast to the phone via the software the whole thing crashes and the software shuts off

How can the makers of such great phones have such flakey software to use with it

on my PC its all but useless,,, must add that when i connect it via the USB my PC does see the phone its Kies that does not

and its a long long time since I installed such poor software on my PC - do others have similar woes using it??
Thanks
Chris

I think you'll find most users' experience of Kies is pretty poor. When I owned a Samsung Wave, it really was pot luck whether the software recognised the phone.

Luckily, most of the content transfer for music etc, can be done by standard drag n drop, or just via WMP or similar . Luckily, Kies has been behaving remarkably well with my S2 so touch wood it remains that way.

I used to think it was poor when I first used it but after many upgrades it seems to have settled down and whilst the user interface is not the firendliest it has some impressive fuctionality for a free mobile phone comms package.

I have Kies working fine here, but it's not always been that good.
Do you use another launcher? If you do switch back to AWL and see if it connects.
Have you tried Kies Air for everything other than updating/

I installed Kies just this week for my new phone. I was a bit apprehensive given what I'd heard about how bad it was. However I have to say that I do find it miles better and much faster than the Nokia Ovi suite I used to use for my previous phone.

Installed in a 1.8ghz Core2-Duo with 2gig of ram and Windows XP.

Agreed with the above poster. Nokia Ovi Suite is the biggest piece of $%&! i have ever seen! Kies actually seems really good when you compare the two. But yeh, Kies is very bad. Nothing you can do to change that.

Kies has some good video and picture editing software included.

I have not managed to get to grips with Kies file stuff though... I just use Windows file management to do stuff outwith Kies as its so complicated.
