Our dog has always loved sitting on the window sill to look out during the day and to get onto it he has to sit on the back of a chair.

Eventually it's got to the stage where no-one else can use that chair because the dog has taken ownership of it! He even snuggles down on it overnight now.

Even if there are 4 of us(adults) in the lounge, no-one dares move the dog!

That means your dog is boss in your house.
My dog gets moved, she might not like it, but I just push her to the side. Dogs need to know that people are the boss not them, it causes less problems that way.

My dog has his own chair....when it's just me and the wife we all always sit in the same chairs. But if we've guests round we will move the dog, he sometimes doesn't look best pleased!

My Maine Coon cat thinks he's got his own chair - actually, he's got three chairs, a table, and two beds! I set up a nice soft chair for him that no-one else uses, with a blanket on it, but he still prefers to go for a human-scented one. If he fancies a bed instead, he'll go upstairs and whinge outside the bedroom of choice until the door's opened.

My dog has his own chair: it's called the floor

If he wants extra padding he has his basket!

Not a dog, but a cat. Winnie's seat was the best in the house as nobody ever sat on it. She was very rarely moved.

Spoilt little thing, she was.

My dogs have the free use of both sofas in my lounge - whenever there is space; BUT if a person wishes to sit on them, they get down immediately. I will not let them be boss and I do not attempt to sit or lie on their beds!
Oh and I have leather sofas and dogs that do not moult so my sofas stay in good condition for people to sit on.

Yes, definately. I have two dogs and one of them has claimed the sofa. She has a blanket on the sofa and always curls up on the blanket.

The other dog is quite happy on the floor (or the dogs shelf as we call it)

I think that is really cruel.

You really should have had a little cushion plumped under it's bum, as well as some cat snacks at it's side so it doesn't have to move. Such a bad owner!
