Not sure of the significance of this but it seems this box does exist

http://btsupport.custhelp.com/ci/fat...9GdG0tUnhRaw==

That is dated November 2011.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Yes, that much is obvious. I just wondered if anyone had seen this one or had any details. There is speculation that the Cardinal bit in the model name referred to youview.

Interesting, if I type 7831 into the Pace website search box, it throws up this:-

http://www.pace.com/universal/search...all&p=1&d=3832

The page however has no mention of 7831, even in the source code.

That is one mighty fine stb. It certainly looks the part and the functionality ticks all the boxes too. We can hope.

Well, it is make or break time for me.

I still have over a year on my contract with them and I think I am being fair with what I expect from them by the time my contract is up.

If they do not have a HD box that supports freeview HD or do not have any IPTV channels then I will be taking my business elsewhere.

That brings up no results found now.

Umm. I know you're all dying for a new STB and I really hope you get one soon. But as a cynic, all I see here is a new SKU for the existing black box preloaded with the new linux firmware rather than the old Mediaroom one.

Hopefully I'm wrong (I usually am) but hey, that's all I can see...

Wow, assuming the Mod hasn't been given a bum steer, that's quite shocking -

"I double-checked with our BT Vision experts, and as others have mentioned already we don't have any plans to release a Vision HD box at present and we don’t have a date for when that might happen."

They really don't have any plans to release a HD box??

It's now been edited/updated:-

"This was poorly worded, sorry. I meant, we don't have a release date for this yet. Didn't mean to imply this was something that is never going to happen, sorry for any confusion caused!"

I'd say that now was not a good time to renew a contract with BT. If you're happy with what you're getting, just keep paying and enjoy being contract-free until the position becomes clear. At least then, you can leave if you want or stay if you want.

When is someone with an opinion a troll?

Seems on the BT forums you are.........http://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Vision.../409295/page/6

"why are people trolls simply because they criticise BT? I've seen criticism of this forum over at Digital spy, and it's easy to see why. People on here seem to take the status the forum assigns to them quite literally...having the audacity to criticise seems to be some sort of cardinal sin...."

Does anyone know what software BT will be using when they dump Mediaroom? - note that the new pace box supports SoftAtHome and MiView (as well as Mediaroom).

The deletion of RF has had a severe impact on our use of the BT Vbox and we only use it these days as a recorder and for 'Replay' both of which are available on other devices. We have had Freeview HD for a couple of years now (out of region) so they had better come up with HD tuners soon or I will see no reason to continue my subscription...

I expect the software they use is a 'closely guarded secret' only for those in the know and 'beta testers'. They really haven't done themselves any favours by keeping it quiet regarding their future plans and more importantly when HD TV is likely to become available. Anyway as I've said on the community forums I'm off in a month or so to be replaced by a HD TV tuner for my HTPC and a Netflix subscription. I used to think it was a good, value for money service (and probably still is compared to $ky) but has fallen behind technically and value wise!

WOW! This is big news. In beta testing. How do you know this? Obviously we cannot expect you to break any NDAs but do you have one? Or do you know someone else that does? There are a few regulars on here who are on BT's beta testing list and tested the black box, but they haven't mentioned it. What can you tell us?
