Lana Del Ray is winning me over
I didn't like her at the start. Still think Video Games is average.
Hated 'Born to Die' right up until this morning. I think I'm starting to turn to her. Is her album any good? |

I absolutely adore her album. I actually wouldn't pick Video Games as a stand out song, although I do really like it. The only other song that sounds like it on the album is Blue Jeans so I wouldn't worry about not liking the album if you don't like Video Games.
My favourites are Born To Die, National Anthem and This Is What Makes Us Girls. I'd recommend listening to those three and then buying the album if you like them. |

Imo her album is about as good as the US critics think it's crap so it's actally superb
. AFAIAA it's on Spotify/youtube so have a listen for free before committing to buying. Some of us have been saying this for a while; she's a major talent. I believe the album is currently #1 in your fine country?

It's good and Video Games is far from the best song on it but it does feel a bit repetitive after awhile but I don't want to put you off there is some great songs on it. Born To Die, National Anthem and Dark Paradise are the stand outs for me.

Not my usual cup of tea, but I quite like her album. I just wish they hadn't overused that hip hop male vocal sample (sounds like a man shouting), which appears on several tracks.

I like the repitiveness of the album. Sometimes with albums, i like a nice flow throughout and her album does just that. It's not all over the place.

I love it but i can see why some won't it can be slightly overbearing and dips after the first six songs becoming less consistent but the added bonus tracks on the deluxe tie it up nicely making for a melancholic atmospheric delightful debut album that as much as anything shows huge promise for the future much like Adele's 19 or Amy's Frank.

One of the things I love about Lana is how lyrically consistent she is. She was still referencing the red lipstick, mascara, chateau marmont, etc.. in her old Lizzie Grant songs from years ago. It really helps give her work a distinct identity.

I finally caved and purchased the album today. My local CD shop was playing 'Off to the Races' while I was looking around, fell in love with it and picked up a copy of the deluxe edition.

Welcome to the 'club' Jonesy88, lol! I think you made the right decision buying the deluxe as imo it contains 2 of the best songs on the album - Without You and Lucky Ones.
PS 'Off To The Races' is indeed an extraordinary song! |

Love her. Video Games, Off To The Races and Blue Jeans are my favourite songs of hers but there's plenty more good stuff on her album.

My favourite of all Lana's songs. When you listen to that song you realise the people who claim she has no talent are basically blowing out of their ass (pardon the French). I can't wait for the re-release of her Lizzie Grant album.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56JBatEumGo PS 'Yayo' is pretty spectacular too! |

Me too!
![]() I've always been intrigued by her, but granted that I didn't really like 'Born To Die' (the single), I didn't bother to check out her album. 'Blue Jeans' pretty much changed my mind, though. I just love her sound. It's dark and melancholic, but it's unique
