Is it just me, or is that actually quite funny, more so than any of the comedy dramas shown on TV?

I think this is one of those series where, if you had the boxed set, you'd end up watching until 3am even if you had to get up for work the next morning!

Me too! Last week we watched UD and recorded this but couldn't bear to wait another day to catch 2nd ep of this!
UD was a load of tripe imo...

I was reffering to Homeland, I've not seen Upstairs, Downstairs.

Season 1 has 12 episodes. Think the finale is 1.5 hours.
Yeah last episode is 90 minutes. Whole series is awesome!

I think I may have gone hyper, but some of the lines, most noticeably Virgil asking for popcorn, got me... Also, somebody on twitter was asking how the place got called 'The George W Bush Center For Intellegance'?

I still think it's a shame the main character isn't Jack Bauer.

OK. Understand now. I thought you meant the whole thing was funny which seemed odd given some of the content.

I am loving Mandy Patinkin in this. Chicago Hope is one of my all time favourites and he was awesome in that.

and Homeland just lost what chance it had of getting a 15 BBFC certificate...
It's got a provisional 15 rating on the DVD/Blu Ray boxsets so i think the distributors are expecting it to get a 15 rating. To be honest, so am i, i'd be very surprised if it was rated 18, when i watched it at US pace i never thought there was anything 18 worthy, i've seen far worse than the worst stuff in Homeland in other 15 rated material recently.

One of the hottest actors from US back in the day.... is he playing her boss with the beard?
If so, didn't recognise him!

The 'rape/semi-consential sex' scene was very strong for a 15.

You can't use the 'cu**' word unless it's contextually justified (I don't think "Didn't the Marine's call that game 'Hunt The Cu**'?" is contextual justification, but it's the closest I've ever seen anyone get)
Another gripping but excellent episode. It just keeps peeling away the layers with Carrie and Nick. Absolutely loving it! Claire Danes is amazing in this but in tonight's episode i thought even though Damian Lewis gives an understated performance he is also amazing, if not better. Love Virgil!

I didn't expect that ending though! Nick making a makeshift space in his garage to pray? Wow!

It wasn't out and out rape from what i saw, it was consensual, albeit uncomfortable looking, and there was no explicit detail. I don't know which scene you're talking about exactly (and i wont speculate to avoid spoiling anything that might not have aired yet on C4), but i can't remember any "rape" scenes in the show.

The BBFC have been getting easier on the C word lately too, if it's said in an agressive or overtly sexual manner (e.g. "i'm going to f*** you in the c***!") then it would be an instant 18, but i doubt the soldiers saying "Hunt the C***" would get the show an 18 rating.

Not sure about that again. I don't like the gratuitous sex, nudity and swearing - it doesn't add anything. It seems as if the writers are teenage boys in that respect - perhaps they're aiming this show at men but it all just feels a bit juvenile. You know the way you swear loads as a teen just 'cause it feels rebellious or whatever? Well then you grow out of it but it's like....this show hasn't. Anyway - I can't believe I'm saying the same things as Guardian readers about that issue - I never agree with them! http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-rad...rt-of-comments

Yeah not convinced so far. Will watch again next week but I still feel it's overhyped and has limited artistic merit.

It's the "George Bush Center for Intelligence", not the "George W Bush Center for Intelligence". It's named after Bush Senior, not Dubya.

It picks up pace from episodes 4,5 onwards it's definitely worth sticking with it.

Admittedly I haven't seen the last few seasons of 24 yet, but surely if it was Jack Bauer we would know for sure that he hadn't been "turned"?

I am sure that person meant Jack Bauer in place of Carrie, the government agent, not the suspected terrorist.

I'm really liking this so far, but i with that Channel 4 wouldn't give away so much in their previews of the next episode.

The bit where Damien Lewis comes out in uniform, "playing the hero", was practically at the end of this episode, yet I'd seen it already in the trailer.

I don't normally watch drama series on TV as they're being aired, so i guess this is normal practice, but I wish it wasn't.

Just caught up with the first two episodes and really enjoyed them both. Good start to this show.
