It picks up pace from episodes 4,5 onwards it's definitely worth sticking with it.
I'm sooo tempted to *cough* 'acquire' the rest of this series because the impatient side of me is rearing it's ugly head.
I fear my patience will dissolve very soon.

It wasn't out and out rape from what i saw, it was consensual, albeit uncomfortable looking, and there was no explicit detail. I don't know which scene you're talking about exactly (and i wont speculate to avoid spoiling anything that might not have aired yet on C4), but i can't remember any "rape" scenes in the show.

The BBFC have been getting easier on the C word lately too, if it's said in an agressive or overtly sexual manner (e.g. "i'm going to f*** you in the c***!") then it would be an instant 18, but i doubt the soldiers saying "Hunt the C***" would get the show an 18 rating.
It was the main reason for The Inbetweeners Movie being rated 18, although that was on top of a lot of other language.

She tried to fight back, he got more violent. Surely going by your logic, if a girl is too scared to talk it's not not rape. then?
In the show? I didn't see fear and I didn't see violence, but I did see "too much too fast" and I didn't see her welcoming the act.

And I don't think how it was presented in the episode it is as easy as either me saying she didn't say stop or you saying that if she's too scared to talk it's rape. I saw a far more complex situation with (on her side) guilts various that led to her accepting - submitting - because he "deserved" the sex / comfort, the affirmation that he's still her husband etc etc. So, as I originally said, I don't think it was rape but I didn't see it as wholeheartedly consensual. I thought in that context it was decidedly ambiguous.

The way I understood it she wanted sex and was making that clear to him in her actions, but she didn't expect him to throw her down and it be over in 30 seconds as if she were a piece of meat. She didn't know who he was in that moment combined with just discovering he is covered in scars, made for an all together uncomfortable experience.

Not sure about that again. I don't like the gratuitous sex, nudity and swearing - it doesn't add anything. It seems as if the writers are teenage boys in that respect - perhaps they're aiming this show at men but it all just feels a bit juvenile. You know the way you swear loads as a teen just 'cause it feels rebellious or whatever? Well then you grow out of it but it's like....this show hasn't. Anyway - I can't believe I'm saying the same things as Guardian readers about that issue - I never agree with them! http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-rad...rt-of-comments

Yeah not convinced so far. Will watch again next week but I still feel it's overhyped and has limited artistic merit.
Having seen the whole season I would say it gets worse, more and more unbelievable, so many things happen that are laughable (not on purpose) and there is still more time devoted to sex etc which does not really move the plot along but is just there to say "hey, this is serious adult drama" problem is that it gets as silly plot wise as 24, but with 24 your enjoyed it for what it is, it did not pretend to be otherwise. This has nothing deep, complex etc about this show, pure hokum!

Don't fancy that girl's chances of survival......
Deep Cover and no notable Back Up....but Lynne is a great interviewer....

Great second episode last night...a real page turner of a Drama, and especially with the Pray Mat at the end, you just don't know what is going to happen.

And Uncle Mike is on Borrowed Time....Nick, I'm sure Knows.

I am sure that person meant Jack Bauer in place of Carrie, the government agent, not the suspected terrorist.
Don't think so:

Anyone else find themselves sort of wishing the Damien character had been Jack Bauer? Would have been interesting... comes home from being held hostage, is he a traitor, isn't he. Not to knock Damien Lewis, he is excellent.. thought he was great in Band of Brothers.

Did anyone else think of the final episode of "Life" when he attacked that photographer?

Oh. How disappointing. I thought for once here's a good, gripping drama with an interesting premise that isn't Nordic or French!!!
Will watch anyway as I look forward to Sunday nights now.. if it tails off I'll leave it!

Interesting: "The Inbetweeners Movie" got a "16-and-over"
rating in the Republic of Ireland :

Too quickly..I was going to record it so I could FF the ads..but couldn't wait!
A PVR is the answer to this. Set to record, start watching about 915, then you ff the ads and finish about 10.

I don't like it. I was a bit reluctant to watch the second one last night, as it seemed a depressing proposition. I'm not sure why people are raving about apart from the bit of titillation with the skinny birds. It just seems depressing and tedious (and not just the dialogue). I'd hate to be that annoying woman spending all day looking at her screens of the family. I understand you are supposed to care about the people in these things. I don't.

From memory it starts to really kick off at around episode 4 or 5. The first few episodes are mostly about establishing the characters before it starts getting really twisty.

There will always be the nitpickers who love pulling any show apart as being unrealistic - but this is supposed to be entertainment, if everything was 100% realistic we'd be watching people sitting at desks most of the time.

You mean converting to Islam being equated with being turned into a terrorist? Very subtle I am sure.

we Irish are a little less prissy about swearing. Gerry Ryan used to swear regularly on his day time radio show, any one of these incidents (which barely raised an eye brow in Ireland) would have been a national scandal in England.

I enjoyed this week's episode despite the rather clunky expostion with the sister, explaining about the dad having the same condition and why she kept it hidden, I thought it was pretty obvious why she kept her illness hidden and didn't need it spelt out quite so crudely.

I certainly liked it. The two seasons are on Region 2 DVD, if you want to see the show (though I suppose they would also be available for download if you are one to do that sort of thing).

The show makes no such equation. If people in the audience react to the revelation that he converted by exclaiming "He's a terrorist!" that's on them, isn't it. I have seen more than one person on the internet do that and then later post that they realized they were being prejudiced jumping to such a conclusion.

Ah, I see. The source of my confusion is that in your earlier post the ONLY thing you quoted from that other person was a bit saying he/she wished the "main character" was Jack Bauer, without specifying Brody or Carrie. Honestly, it never occurred to me that anybody would think Brody is the main character. I have always seen the main character as Carrie. At most, I will grant that the two characters are equally important.

I am loving this series, watched Ep 1 on catch up on Saturday hooked.
One little tiny observation, Damien's amercian accent, not really believable.

I disagree, and I think you are the first person to say that (that I have seen anyway). Damian Lewis keeps getting roles playing Americans (this is his third one now) because his American accent is perfect. And that is three jobs in AMERICAN productions, intended for American audiences, so it is not like he is being hired by Brits who can't detect a bad American accent when they hear it.

I don't really understand C4s 'hero or villain' twitter ploy. Unless the flashbacks are completely false, it's pretty obvious he's a villain isn't it?
