Thanks very much!

Even his wife calls him by his surname. WTF is that all about?

A few odd things happening this episode. Roya taking her phone apart after talking to Brody, then doing same to his when they met.

If Roya and co suspect him being a double agent maybe they're using him as a decoy.

I was wondering if there's something going on with Roya and Estes, they arranged to go for dinner a few episodes ago. Neither Estes being the mole, or Roya being a super secret spy would surprise me.

Virtual Paul... a few people including myself had been puxxled by that dinner-date....
Of course Roya is being extra cautious after Brody meltdown, he also lied in the car...
If I were Brody I would have told her that he had to deal with the massive f**k up that Dana/Finn had been up too before his family would fall from grace with the Veep, basically keeping Veep very happy as by orders... I get annoyed when I think I could have come up with a better line that the writers

Yes, I was also impressed with the actor's acting. Many don't care too much about the Dana character (I have no such problems), but I've always felt that the actor has done her role well.

To destroy the GPS signal on the phone perhaps.

She arranged dinner as a distraction so that Brody would have more time in unlocking the safe in his office. Also, she may have been using her role as a reporter to find out if Estes would divulge any classified information. It was mainly a diversion tactic though.

Carrie is one of the most irritating characters ever to appear on TV.

This guy is so high profile in the minds of the CIA it makes you wonder how he got into the country, I guess this is how it was being portrayed as a twist.

If it was supposed to be a 'twist', it was a pretty crap one.

I don't know about this show anymore. It's entertaining, but completly and utter bonkers and totally full of holes. How really is Carrie ANYWHERE part of the CIA after being bonkers and seemingly ignoring any and all orders left, right and centre. Not to mention clearly being in love with a terrorist double agent and bonking him at any chance she gets.

It's like 24, but 24 at least never pretended to be anything other than action adventure. This is kind of trying to keep a fig leaf on of 'proper' drama, but it certainly isn't.

Lets be honest, it's jumped the shark hasn't it?

I was right that it would be downhill all the way after the Brody/ Carrie interview scene.

Never mind we've still got Dexter, The Walking Dead and best of all, Boardwalk Empire.

She's not very discreet either is she?
At the end when she was blatantly running down the middle of the road toward Brody and Roya! I'm sure she could have been spotted a mile off.

My husband can't take this any more (he says it is now complete and utter twaddle) and has stopped watching.
I'm still hanging in there, but just.

Such a shame. The first series was totally gripping and believable but now it is almost a caricature of itself.
In what universe would Carrie ever be allowed
a) to continue being in the CIA and
b) even if allowed back in be given such leeway to do her own thing?
I mean, any half decent operative with hair that colour would know to cover it up in the dark rather than stand out like a beacon.

I really hope it picks up. It is not really worth it just to see how a gurning Carrie mucks it up and then, in the nick of time, rescues it. Gut instinct? Far too implausible.

I've reached the stage where I just want Crazy Carrie to be locked up for good and for Rupert Friend's character to play a bigger part.

The noises of ugly sex were just too much for me this week!

There are just so many things which do annoy me now, some of which are:

1) Why does Brody never do his actual job of congressman? He must be the most rubbish politican of all time.
2) Why is Dec Ray Vecchio (I can't think of him as anything else) and his idiot mute brother still there. They're crap at their job, and they're not even part of the CIA.
3) How on earth is Agent grumpy (quinn) up and about after taking a bullet to the gut (not to mention the 99% fatal 'blood out of mouth) after what appears to be a matter of days.
4) Why is there no satelitte coverage of the operations? I've seen 24 and NCIS, and they all have it.
5) Why are the terrorists concerned about Brody being seen 'as a public figure'.. they had him running errends for them a while back.

Not to mention all the other issues, like the missing fake SWAT team, which have suddenly vanished into thin air, no leads or traces of which...

Grrrrr such bad writing.

starsailor - I'm not sure you're really getting the hang of drama:

(a) It's not relevant to any of the the plots or storylines
(b) Not sure what the problem is here
(c) He discharged himself but, sure you are required to suspend belief somewhat. Given he's central now, he does need to be up and about
(d) You mean, why isn't it as fake as some other shows?
(e) Lost me.

This "fake SWAT team" is the guys who just got shot/arrested in the car park.

This could have been a great series if it had focused on the main plot idea of a returned POW acting as a double agent for terrorists. But quite frankly the unrealistic actions of the Carrie character ruined it, starting with her drug dependency, which surely the CIA has checks for and her sleeping with her main suspect. From then on I knew that this wasn't a serious drama. It doesn't deserve the praise and loyalty of its fans.

I notice you post in the US pace thread so suspect you've now introduced a big fat spoiler that we haven't seen in the UK yet

Absolutely. This is what made it such magnetic viewing in the first series. A bit like the Manchurian Candidate, but up to date.

There is still, just, a possibility that this comes to pass - which is the only reason I carry on watching - but they are making it harder and harder to care what happens.
I am totally at a loss to understand where the tightness and believeablity of the first series went.

I know Homeland was based on an Israeli show, I was just wondering if maybe the first series followed that shows plot then they got a bit more of point in the second series?

I've watched the Israeli show and there are a few similarities but not the same storyline - no Carrie character to start!

Yes it's ridiculous, he'd be incapacitated for at least a month I would've thought.
