A very promising start. Excellent cast (Claire Danes, Damian Lewis, Mandy Patinkin, David Harewood et al) and an intriguing premise.

Really enjoyed this! It's good to see such a real world drama on the box! Fantastic performances and strong characters! Definitely will be watching next week - felt to me like a complex piece of television that was not too hard to follow and understand, the perfect mix! Top marks!

Adverts at the worst possible time each time. No wonder people ****ing download shows instead.
I didn't think the ads were positioned that badly, but at least it's free to air over here

from Ratings Thread
Homeland 2.2m (peak 2.5m) inc +1.
Shame it's so low. C4 hyped it pretty well, and Claire Daines getting the Golden Glove should've helped more than that.

Was the actress who played Mrs Brody the same one who played Anna from V?

It's too soon to tell.

I want to find out why he punched his friend to death.
Don't we all.....but we don't want to know in the first episode....and when will Nick find out that Jess, hasn't been a Nun for....8 years was it, and the Kids are messed up too.
Adverts at the worst possible time each time. No wonder people ****ing download shows instead.
That ad was a bit Keen....but it didn't spoil my enjoyment of this cracking, finger twitching first episode.
Homeland - "24" for grownups.
Carrie is jack bauer.....with Brains......but still a loose cannon.
"You think for one minute that you'd get away with this"
Unfortunately for us, we'll have to suffer four ad breaks, whereas in the US it's shown ad free.

Another show for the Sky+.
I Sky+ed this and started to watch it at 10.

She is playing older than her years, she's only 31 but is supposed to be late 30s - maybe the makeup team made her up to look the age of the character.

really enjoyable, although I did feel it was a bit predictable at points. As the plot thickens and twists more and more, hopefully this will change!

Yes, along with Inara in Firefly and Adria in Stargate SG-1. The stunningly gorgeous Morena Baccarin.

A very promising first episode, with good acting all
round. The premise reminds me of the 1962 flick
"The Manchurian Candidate" (US war hero returns
-but has he gone over to the enemy? ).

I enjoyed it, it was a good opener for the series. Just the fact that Damian Lewis and David Harewood were in it was enough for me to want to watch it, before I'd even read up about it. And I have fond memories of My So Called Life in the 90's with Clare Danes, so it was good to see her again on my TV.

Looking forward to next week's episode already. There aren't many shows on TV that hook me in like that.

Yes someone said Homeland is based on an Israeli show but The Manchurian Candidate (book and film) was the classic that started 'the turned war hero' off.

I'd highly recommend watching Temple Grandin, she is superb in that.

There have been lots of good Scandinavian series pretty much each week on BBC4 for the past couple of years - Wallander, The Killing, Borgen etc. They seem to not be on many people's radars - maybe 'cause they're subtitled. Am also looking forward to the Danish series Those Who Kill (Den Som Dręber) starting on ITV3 this Thurs.

I thought the first ep of this was okay - not as good so far as the European stuff I've been watching of late though, and not as good as the hype but maybe it'll improve. A few Guardianistas are commenting that the women (in particular) in US dramas tend to be unnaturally attractive (as if they've just walked out of 4 hours of hair and make-up) which somewhat prevents you from suspending your disbelief. What I like about Euro dramas is that the people are more 'normal' looking or at least more natural in their attractiveness.

Has the Israeli series "Hatufim" that "Homeland" is based on
been shown in Europe or the US?
