Temple Grandin is fantastic and Danes is stunning in the lead. It's not often someone gets Golden Globes in successive years for playing different roles. Had to believe that she was only 17 when she did Romeo & Juliet.

Strange how Damian Lewis's character has so much in common with Charlie Crews (the character he played in "Life") but is nothing like him!

I liked it when he said after meeting the VP that he didn't even know the guy's name, because when they originally mentioned that he was going to be meeting the VP I said that if he'd been away for 8 years he would have no idea who the VP was. Or maybe even who the President was.

I enjoyed the first episode a lot, however as a pharmacist why oh why do they never get medical stuff right? Clozapine is a major antipsychotic, all of my patients on it are barely able to function, gain lots of weight and can't work, never mind function in such a high level job. Plus it's not a green capsule... Sigh.

The first episode was good, but some things were a bit odd maybe. Wouldn't someone from the army or government have had to call his family first to make sure they were OK with the situation and reacted in the right way?

And even if they were certain he was OK mentally wouldn't they still have kept him somewhere under observation for a while so he can settle back into normal life gradually?

Also, you'd have thought there would have been some reporters outside the family's house before they left for the press conference, rather than just when they returned home.

It does actually have a link to Rubicon... Henry Bromell, the Executive Producer and Showrunner on Rubicon, is a consulting producer on Homeland, and wrote a couple of episodes later on in the first season.

I enjoyed it but I thought the nutjob agent was played way OTT and the come on to her boss was an embarassment. A more subtle portrayal of her psychotic instablity would have made it more believable that she could have functioned in such a demanding, pressured job for so long without being sent on long term medical leave.

I liked Damian Lewis ever since I saw him in The Forsyte Saga. Great actor. Just him being cast in Homeland was enough for me to want to tune in, before I'd even read up on the storyline.

I didn't see the need for that scene.

I meant her acting of that scene at that point was an embarassment as though the actress was uncomfortable with it or just plain hopeless at acting zig-zagging between neutral and top gear intensity with no shading to her performance.

I'm with you, there does seem to be something about him, they seemed to make a point of her questioning who he was etc. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to more, although I do agree about stretching it a bit, esp them installing the surveillance stuff and no-one seemingly around, despite them coming home to crowds and cameras a little while later.

Mostly because it's the idiom-of-choice for people who don't appreciate something of tremendous value and so decide that everyone else is a sheep and they're the only one savvy enough to not be fooled by hype.
