Lana Del Rey Vs Emeli Sande
I love both new female talents - they both have produced great debut albums and have had huge successes in the singles charts. I was wondering who do people prefer, or do they actually like both the same? i have to say based on their albums, Lana is my favourite, but if it was just based on live performances and consistency, Emeli would win hands down
What do people think? Lana or Emeli? Or both? Or neither, if the case may be

I really like both but if I had to say one, I'd say Emeli Sande.

I find Emeli to be a bit of a bore fest so Lana Del Rey all the way for me!

Emeli Sande ~ Lana Del Rey's voice is too grating and dreary for me. I find Emeli's to be more soulful.

Why do people always feel the need to pit female singers against each other? Like either, like neither or like both, I don't see the need for the 'vs'.

Love Emeli but Lana is, to me, just more interesting. In fact, she's more than interesting, she's mesmerising.

I like Emeli, but as others have said - Lana, is far more interesting. Her image eludes Old Hollywood glamour, with a modern twist. Her description of herself as a ''gangsta Nancy Sintra'' was perfect. Her album has to be one of the best albums I've heard in years from a new artist. The only other time I remember really feeling like that in recent years was Lady Gaga, the Fame, and Adele 19.
It went from the haunting backdrop of a kind of sombre-pop for Video Games, the mid-tempo guitar riff of Blue Jeans, to the Hip-Hop spiced Off to the Races, Lolita, and National Anthem all of course, on a pop melody. Her ballads are wonderful; the tone of her voice is so luxurious, and smooth especially on Million Dollar Man, and Carmen. The mid-tempos are accompained by really catchy lyrics (see Radio) and the up-tempos have thumping beats which remind me of the r'n'b/urban sound which preluded the Euro-pop so dominate in the last couple of years. Her album is a breath of fresh air from the Euro-pop phenonmenon, and contray to the reports that her album is ''samey'', it comes off as versatile spin on what seems to a trade-mark Lana style of pop. |

Lana
Emeli pulls of great performances but her debut hasn't proved the talent she really has and shown her as an artist. Where as Lana's debut has. |

Lana by a country mile.
Emeli peaked with Heaven for me, having listened to the album. The rest of the album is ballad snoozeville, some of them are good and enjoyable but some of the tracks are fodder/filler defined. I found it all a bit heavy to sit and listen through in one listen. |

Lana for me, but they're not really comparable. I was mesmerised by Lana Del Rey and her album is amazing. Emeli, I'm listening to her album now, it's good, it doesn't have the same impact on me as Lana's but it's still very good and I really like her too.
