How the hell is Nicki Minaj and Fergie higher than Sara Bareilles who is a million times more talented and Kylie who is an icon and should be in the top ten?

Is this just how much they have supposedly earned (less what managers, agents & family have helped themselves to)?

some current female artists are too high up, a good selection are missing (Stevie Nicks, Souxie, Joan Jett????) and Kate Bush should be there right beside Madonna and grace Jones up there too!!! FFS!
Also some arent the "greatest anything" but at least VH1 had a general idea i suppose, just rankings need to be sorted out a bit more...close though, but its like they had the top two Madonna and Mariah based on their influence in music, culture, comemrcial sales, videos, tours etc....then shoved a few contemporaries in there from Pop music today and it all is mish mashed.ANyway....small rant over

Thing is mariah was influenced BY whitney. SO I dont get how mariah can possibly be above whitney in that respect, she sold more, but had more albums. IMO whitney was more successful with what she had and more impressive. Her albums sold more (until after the bodyguard) than mariah, actually getting over 8m sales and not being certified diamond with 7m US sales sold.

True, but Mariah actually writes her songs so perhaps this was taken into account when considering artistry too - as an all round package maybe? Mariah also started much later than Whitney and still reached the level of whitney in the mid 90s. Who knows lol

was that Celine ranked at #21. Now, I'm no fan of Celine Dion, but when you're the 3rd biggest selling female in the industry, and you rank outside of people like Rihanna, Katy Perry, J-Lo and Kelly Clarkson, something is odd. On the other hand, I think the Top 10 is pretty solid. Huge fan of Mary J and I think she definitely deserves her place in the top10. The only thing I think that should be changed is the more current artists shouldn't be ranked so high. I'd definitely not have Beyonce and Gaga infront of people like Whitney & Janet. With the top 10 that stands, I'd have ranked it as 1) Madonna 2) Whitney Houston 3) Mariah Carey 4) Janet Jackson 5) Beyonce 6) Mary J. Blige 7) Christina Aguilera 8) Lady GaGa 9) Adele 10) P!nk Overall, a very solid Top 100, it's great to see different genre of females in it. Some good inclusions are sadly missing though/ |

It is the 100 Greatest Women in Music from the last 20 years.
That probably explains the omission of some legends. |

at least they got number one right. but the rest can be questionable? but the ladies that are on their is right. but maybe in different placing. anyways. i thought janet was gonna be 2nd. cause she's the 2nd most influential female singer behind madonna. 3rd most is whitney houston. 4th most is mariah carey. but the 5th has to go to beyonce but i put celine dion because she's the 2nd most successful selling recording artist of all time.

Anyways out of the top 10 they have id rank them similarly to you. But tbh id take em all in the top 100 in the Pinder Spindry, take out those that are embarrasing to be in there, add the missing legends and rank them the best fit

Have just noticed Courtney Love is above Sara Bareilles...I want to cry
- how can the Spice Girls be so low too?? Surely five of the most influential women in the 90's???
