With Android and Smartphones becoming more and more popular. Do you have a Phone with Internet and Apps. Or is yours one that just makes calls and texts.

I got my first smart phone as a gift about 5 months ago. Its proven to be very useful for forum browsing at bus stops, vital urgent googling, and reminders for events and appointments. Which I lose track off now I'm getting on a bit.

I prefer my Internet on a screen where I can actually see things.

Smartphone. I hardly ever make calls with it though. Or text. Until I got a smartphone I hardly ever used a mobile - just kept it in the car for emergencies. My smartphone changed all that though. It provides me with all the music I want, several books to while away the odd ten minutes, sat nav, half way decent camera and the ability to browse the web while on the move. Several times while out walking I've wondered about a monument or bridge and now I can find out then and there.

Smartphones are undeniably useful IMO.

I've been using a PDA loaded with work-related spreadsheets for over a decade and the ability to have all that and a phone on a single device is a real benefit to me.

I'm a bit of a skinflint when it comes to data tariffs so I don't use mine for googling or updating my twitbook in the pub or any of that stuff though.

I use an older 'candy bar' phone (Ericsson PH337) which does text and calls only.

Androids can be rather pricey. You should consider buying an iPod Touch or something like that without the cellular capabilities. Actually, there is an App you can use that lets you make free wifi calls. It's not Skype. I can't remember the name of it, but I'll post it when I get home from work.

I have a HD7 smart phone which I use as my main mobile plus an old sony mobile which I take when I go mountain biking as I don't want to risk damaging my smart phone.

Don't do it. Once you start on smart phones you will be addicted. Just say no.

Also people with smartphones are in danger from me. It seems that people leave their smartphone face up on the bar/table instead of in their pocket like the old phones. I am forever knocking over my drink and flooding these modern phones. You have been warned.

My reign of King of crap phone has ended. I was always 8 years behind everyone, just 5 days ago I bought a blackberry. I had a awful Phillips one, Nokia and up until last week one of the older Sony Ericsson ones;

I'm thinking about buying a Smartphone (not a new one) because the tariff is only £6 more than I'm paying now for calls and texts, and because my camera died.No doubt it'll still run out of battery and get accidentally left in my drawer at work.

Same here, it's one of two gadgets I own which is actually useful. The other being a speed camera detector.

I love my smartphone, but I could live without it if I had to. At least with a regular phone you don't have to charge it every night.
