In honour of valentines day....bit late I know.

Idiot Wind by Dylan.

Now, they don't have to be nasty-sod-you-I-wish-I'd-never-clapped-eyes-on-you-type break up songs of course...

IMO, it has to be Part Of Me by Katy Perry, completley different to Adele's music, which I find depressing to listen to. Whilst Part Of Me is basically just a F**k You!

''TiK ToK'' by Ke$ha.

It's a heartbreaking song where Ke$ha rues the loss of a lover, and attempts to shield herself from pain by drinking copious amounts of alcohol and throwing herself at men who look like Mick Jagger (who may have had a resemblance to her ex-lover).

She wastes away the time she has left on this Earth experiencing this deep feeling of terrible realisation by counting down the seconds on the clock, and wails ''Woah Wu-Oh Wu-Oh Oh'' in the sadness she is enduring as it tears apart her soul.

The Dr. Luke production is banging though.

The Wedding Present got about 2 albums out of 1 break-up

"My Favourite Dress", "Nobody's Twisting Your Arm" and "Everyone Thinks He Looks Daft" contain enough regret and bile to last a lifetime

I would urge anyone going through a break-up (specifically if you've been dumped) to listen to I Don't Want To Be Your Friend by Cyndi Lauper. WIll make you feel so much better.

Agreed. I don't think any song in the past or future will ever beat it...

Hmm...Best break up songs:

Michael Jackson - She's out of my life (Boy losing the girl)
Whitney Houston - I have Nothing (Girl losing the guy)
Cee Lo Green - F*** You (Hillarious)
Adele - Rolling in the Deep (Angriest Break up)
Gloria Gaynor - I will Survive (Get Drunk and rally other heartbroken losers)

Love Ridden by Fiona Apple is so sad because it articulates that feeling when you accept that it is over.

Wild World by Cat Stevens.

There are two kinds of break up songs.

Defiant ones, where the singer tells the ex to piss off, and sad ones, where the singer misses his/her lost love.

The best defiant break up song is "Adrianne" by The Calling. The best sad break up song is "Waiting For You" by Richard Marx.
