sales of 21 up to last weeks official billboard chart
6,385,239
sales of fearless " "
6,494,173
Fearless 108,946 ahead.

Minus this weeks HDD Adele sales(241,946)
Adele 133K in front.

Dont know Fearless sales this week(its not in the HDD top 50), but last week was 3,589
So even allowing for a grammy boost of 100%, would make 7,000 this week, which still leaves Adele ahead by 126K!.
Fearless needs to sell over 133K this week.....not going to happen.

This means Adele now has the bestselling album by any female artist in the US for years!

To be honest, I find Taylor Swift really is slipping. Her latest album didn't do as well in the US or worldwide, and her last record won Album of the Year - Speak Now wasn't even nominated. Her touring stats in the US alone are the only things impressing me.

Meanwhile, Adellah just keeps shitting on everyone.

Thoughts on this new achievement and Adele's dominance over dubiously ''talented'' teenyboppers like Taylor Swift?

Now, can we not have civil discussion?

I would appreciate it if nobody trolled my thread.

How Taylor Swift sold that many albums I will never know, her music is irritating.

I wish you luck with that, happy for her shame Turning Tables isn't going to be the last single but I guess Rumour Has It makes the most sense.

I wonder if she'll grab another number one.

I agree.

Swift's writing is very immature too.
It's hard to believe Adele and Taylor are around the same age, when Adele is singing mature, balanced and emotional songs like Rolling In The Deep, and Swift is still singing teen girl diary entry fluff like ''Mean''.

What an unnecessary thread. Taylor slipping? Give me a break.

You claim Taylor's touring stats are the only thing that impresses you? Clearly then you are very much out of touch with the music industry if the sales of Speak Now are deemed by you unimpressive.

Quite unrealistic aswell for every album an artist releases to be nominated album of the year. The fact that she is the youngest ever winner of that award shows her progression is well ahead of most other artists anyway so again a baseless statement.

I will look forward to Adele fans posting a new thread every time 21 overtakes the sales of another album....

I like RHI more, to be honest.

I don't know about another Number One, it's the fourth single, but everything else is holding up so; who knows?

Taylor's touring stats in comparison to her previous record are the only thing impressing me. Taylor's previous album had more sales and more acclaim, hence the ''slipping'' comment.

Plus, isn't AOTY based on quality at least a little bit? So wouldn't that say a lot about Speak Now and where it stands? And if Taylor fans hold her previous win in such high regard, they can hardly shun it later on.

Oh, and Lady Gaga's been nominated three years in a row now - so it's certainly far from the norm.

Yeah I'm likely in the minority with preferring Turning Tables to RHI, in fact the only single they've released I do like is SFTTR I like all the other tracks just not the singles.

To be honest I was surprised SFTTR went to number one considering the amount of albums sold in America but if RHI gets enough airplay I could see it going number one.

She does have a lot of cross-genre appeal over there, so I can see it happening at AirPlay.

So by your account there are only five "quality" albums a year? As your album is not quality if it wasn't nominated by your logic.

In my opinion AOTY is an amazing achievement. Both when Taylor, Adele or anyone else won it

Maybe I'm struggling with grammar but to me that reads that AOTY is based on quality and because it's not nominated therefore the quality of the album is in question.

No, I was again referencing the ''slipping'' comment. If it wasn't deemed within the Top 5 records of the year, and her previous one was, doesn't that say something about where it stands within her own back catalogue? It's not like the competition was tough - Rihanna, for the love of Godele.

A fine example of Swift's juvenile writing on her latest ''progressed'' record.

Anyway, let's take a little focus of Swift and on to Adele's remarkable achievement and talent for a while.

Speak Now is a lot of filler but has a few great tracks on it. Fearless was nearly all great songs so I'm not surprised that Speak Now didn't get a nomination.

Thanks for clearing that up. Let's not dampen Adele's achievement by claiming she won against poor competition.

I'm glad Adele has sold so well and I will look forward to your thread when 21 overtakes Some Hearts by Carrie Underwood

Oh, I don't know. Not so much of a fuss was made over Carrie. But it'll still be another great achievement for Adele.

Putting aside all the rivalry from the different factions here, it has to be said that Adele's achievements over the last 12 months (whether you are a fan or not) are extraordinary. Again, whether fan or not, you HAVE to accept that Taylor Swift is an absolutely enormous seller in her native country and some would say the nation's sweetheart so for a Brit to outsell her so comprehensively in HER market is basically the stuff of legend.

Exactly. In the music world, over the last 12 months Adele's star has shone brighter than anyone else's, and this just proves it further.

Pay me no mind. I'm just peeking in, throwing a couple facts down, and getting out of Dodge before anyone gets hurt!

HDD

Adele’s six Grammy awards mean the XL/Columbia U.K. pop thrush will remain on atop of the HITS Album sales chart for some time to come.

Her smash album 21 spends its 20th week at #1, tying the mark set, ironically enough, by the late Whitney Houston soundtrack for The Bodyguard in 1993.

The album sells another 242k this week, a whopping 102% increase, and will soar towards 400k next Tuesday, when it will mark its year in the marketplace with a 21st week at #1. It is currently over 6.6 million and counting.

So next week 21 will have at least 7.1 million in sales. For the US. In one year. Get that diamond certificate ready for Christmas.

Furthermore, 2 days before The Grammys happened, '21' was certified 7x platinum by the RIAA

The Grammys boost means this album will hit 8x platinum within the next 2 weeks so basically by the end of February. Diamond certificate in 2012 is effectively on lock
