What was the last book you read?

I've just finished re-reading "Fluke" by James Herbert.

Reading 3 at the moment but the last one I finished was 'A Feast for Crows', George R.R.Martin. Just started the next one, and then will be bereft of GRRM til he writes another.

Last book I finished was Dawn French, A Tiny Bit Marvellous. It was readable, but nothing spectacular. Now trying to chew my way through Brian Cox's latest book about quantum theory, which is hard going but ultimately enjoyable.

That's a great book. I'm on the home stretch with Atlas Shrugged.

I've always got a few on the go simultaneously.
Last I finished (tuesday) was a Star-Trek novel 'Captain's Honour'.

Currently on the go, I have: 'Assegai' by Wilbur Smith, a re-read of Joseph conrad's 'Nostromo' - and have just started another star-Trek novel...'Dyson Sphere'

Nearly bought Nostromo yestserday. I'm a big Conrad fan but ended up going for Master and Magartia by Bulgakov instead.

Blood On The Strand by Susanna Gregory

It's the second in a series of murder mysteries featuring Thomas Chaloner, a spy in Restoration London.
I've nearly finished The Butcher Of Smithfield, the third in the series.

Just read Escape by Carolyn Jessop, about life in the FLDS and the lead up to the arrest of Warren Jeffs.
Fascinating.

I have recently finished Look at Me by Jennifer Egan. It's a story about loss of identity linked to a change in appearance featuring a model whose appearance has changed following a car accident, her namesake and daughter of her childhood friend, and a mysterious stranger who links the two stories. The book was written before 9/11, facebook and twitter. It has some interesting ideas but I found the storyline to be too contrived and didn't really enjoy it.

The last audiobook that I listened to was The Long Song by Andrea Levy, read by the author. This is set on a Jamaican sugar plantation at the time when slavery was about to be abolished. It features the life story of July aka Marguerite, a house slave. Overall I'm glad to have heard the story and am more knowledgeable about the history of slavery in Jamaica than I was before.

The Crucifix Killer - Chris Carter.
Really enjoyed it, so I've just ordered the next two.
They seem to feature the same characters, so I'm glad I found it TBH, because I've always regretted not reading the first few Lee Child books in order.

I have also read this recently - I found that it had an interesting premise and some good ideas but ultimately didn't go anywhere and I found the main character quite unlikeable. I was so excited to read this book and felt it fell short of the mark. It was a struggle to get to the end if i'm honest.

the last book that I read, which I finished today was The Taking by Dean Koontz.

Next I'm not sure which to read, either Stephen King - The Stand, Port mortuary by Patricia cornwell, or, Pride by Rachel Vincent.

Though I need to hurry up and chose as I plan to start the book tonight, been trying to decide all day.
