Dude take a chill pill... i've checked everyone i know that is on Full Monty and they are getting normal speeds. Thereis no cap going on, you however need to sort out with them whats going on with YOUR specific account and if your not happy with that then get onto Ofcom

Lord Lucan its a bit unfair to say take a chill pill on two counts

First one being T mobile are still capping @ 4mbps up and 600k down and secondly they are being less then transparent/ lying about saying that no t mobile speeds are capped. They are. What company operates like this. I am campaigning for fairness and you could argue that if it wasnt for me and others in the first place contacting the ASA their would still be a 1 Mbps cap.

Regards

Hi Plymouth. When I first went on the full monty I was capped at 1mbps, last week the cap was lifted to 3.90 Mbps. Yesterday the cap went back on @ 2mbps, after phoning them today it's go back up to 4mbps. PB I am write in thinking that I should be getting speeds of up to 7mbps so there is a cap @ 4?

T mobile just lie, lie, lie

I have a Nexus on TFM. 3.9Gb down, 0.6 up. More than happy.

If it wasn't for my tweet in the first place the blogs/news would have not even picked up on it and put pressure on them, so lets not even go there.. I want the same as you.

I think it's unfair to say they are lying when everyone else isn't capped and they are trying to sort your issue out and seem to have.

They have removed the cap for the most part and for most people. I know they were lying at first and they haven't been honest with us or the ASA but they are not capping anymore so can't we just leave it at that for the foreeable future

Can I ask what you are doing on your phone to need a 4MBit/sec connection? I can stream ITV1HD on a 1.8MBit connection... so if that can be done, surely 2MBit is plenty for phone use?

Sounds purely like congestion in your area, but you really need to stop worrying so much about it. My Voda connection fluctuates from 1MBit to 5.5MBit but it still works just fine, so stop stressing over it.

ajh94, you changed your tune a bit! You complained to ASA yourself and you are asking about why you can't get more than 7.5.
I for myself can live with 2Mbit and now I can get more. For me it's purely the case of them lying/fobbing some customers off. When I was clearly capped at 1.9Mbit, I was told it's down to circumstances (distance to mast, people using the network etc). Now they say there aren't any caps and again I can't get more then 3.8, no matter when or where.
I know if they didn't have any caps, especially with the Full Monty now and the possibility of tethering, they'd kill the network. But at least be honest about it.

My question still stands.... why do you need faster than 2MBit on a mobile phone?

denyo I did complain and I dont like being capped but what Plymouth said made me think... we really don't NEED more. we just want it for whatever reason.

So if BMW sold me a car, which should be able to go 150mp/h, but because I am only allowed to drive 70mp/h, they restrict it without telling me, that's ok too then?

ajh94, I am not having a go at you, as we do get along, but you are the one that is "obsessed" the most about getting better speeds, although you already have got 7.5. And surely you knew before that there is no need for that kinds of speed on a phone.

I can only repeat myself, which most of you seem to ignore and just say "you don't need the speed", they are lying to (some) customers. It's not just like before that T-Mobile were stumm about speed caps, now they are saying there aren't any.

I wasn't aware that T-Mobile were guaranteeing speeds. Perhaps I'm easily pleased, but the speeds mentioned in this thread seem fine to me. More then enough for typical smartphone use.

Yeah I know Dennis, we do get along and I know you wasn't having a go. I realised that we don't need speeds any faster but you are right they are lying to people and denying caps and that's originally why I reported them. so yeah you're right sorry if I caused confusion or whatnot

T-Mobile's speed should never of been capped and it should be transparent to the end customer who gets the fastest speeds possible across the UK no matter what tariff they are on.

However they did cap and even if they stated they never the fact that they ARE uncapping speeds for everyone is a good step forward in my opinion.

Also in regards to the 7.50 down 2.30 up 'limit' this is more than likely the absolute max you'll get out of their network as it's pretty much 7.2mbit network aside from major cities where it might be 14.4mbit

I left t-mobile ages ago because I would max out at 1.8mbit and my friend on a business t-mobile contract would get upwards of 5mbit and no matter how much I told t-mobile this they refused to acknowledge any cap back then so I paid up (sim only 30 days) and left for vodafone (uh oh!) so I do know how it feels to know that your speed could be so much better and powerless to do anything about it.

Yeah you're probably right, probably getting the best the network can offer. i can't complain at 7meg at all, its really fast, HQ YouTube loads really quickly indeed. What kind of speeds do u get on Vodafone cos thats the only network i have never tested?

Hi guys I've just sent a request to join your FB group.

I'm on the famous £7.50 sim only with the 3Gb data allowance. My speeds are now up to 4meg. However I was surprised to receive a text today warning me that I've already used 80% of my data this month. My renewal date is on the 10th of each month.

Admittedly I've streamed about 2 to 3 hours worth of football so far this month and use FB app and Hot UK Deals every day but other months I've done a lot more in the entire month (remember I'm currently only two weeks into this month) without getting a warning.

My big question is since the removal / increase of the speed cap do you think they might have simply reset everyone's data accounts full stop and as a result my allowance could have been knocked down from 3Gb to the typical 500Mb?

I've had a total of three warnings in almost 18 months since joining them but this one has really come out the blue, whereas the other two were more expected and closer to the end of the month.

I've tried checking my online account but all I'm getting is an error message in the data usage section. I'll try and ring them tomorrow but when I did so in November, after renewing for another 12 months, the staff didn't seem to have a clue when I asked them was I still on 3Gb or not.

I do have it in writing from their email support team that I am entitled to 3Gb but they normally take a about a week to reply. So any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah and keep up the good work. I too have found that T-Mobile staff are sometimes a but economical with the truth shall I say.

I just wonder why you think you should get more than 7.2. There are still parts of the country (and even transmitters within areas that have faster speeds) that are limited to the older 7.2, which in the real would gets you 3 - 6 Mbps. 7.2 tends to suggest the mast is 14!

Does TMUK even promote their mobile handset service as having that technology??

Call them, no one here will know.

As for streaming it's not unachievable that you have burnt through that amount.

I dont understand why even if there is a 4mb limit why anyone is bothered... on a 4mb connection you should be able to stream Skype, play HD youtube videos and load apps fast....

How much bandwidth do you need on a MOBILE PHONE... your asking for bandwidth for bandwidth's sake.

Just rang T-Mobile and my suspicions were confirmed. As a result of the speed cap lift I've been knocked down from 3Gb to 500Mb a month.

They couldn't find a way to reinstate my 3Gb either so gave me the Full Monty for the same price, £7.50pm, instead.

From the 16th March I will be getting 2000 xnet mins, unlimited same network mins, unlimited texts and truly unlimited internet. It's the deal that keeps on giving!

Looks like it's been a blanket reset for everyone who was on the 3Gb sim only deal. So if this affects anyone here I suggest you give them a call otherwise you might be stuck on 500Mb for the foreseeable future.
