nuisance sales calls from talktalk
Ive been registered with TPS since 2005 and BT attempted to register us again but the TPS sent us a letter saying we are already registered since 2005 when I switched the phone line back to BT from tesco and moved broadband from ADSL24 on C&W LLU to BT as well.
Before the switch talktalk where phoning me every other day trying to sell me broadband and phone, which I don't want as Ive had enough trouble with talktalk trying to sort out internet problems with neighbours and friends. They stopped phoning for about 4-5 months after I told them "if any more phone calls come from talktalk I will report talktalk to the police for harassment and that this number is registered with the TPS." Yesterday talktalk have decided that they will start phoning, attempting to sell me broadband and phone. Unfortunatly I did not answer the phone but my stepdad did and just said "no thank you and put the phone down" However I get the feeling they will phone again and if they do can I get BT nuisance calls bureau to deal with it as I have made complaints to the TPS about talktalk before and given them the phone numbers but they have not done anything about it |

TPS has no policing capability or powers.

TT don't phone me up, they just send their sales people to my doorstep every couple of months, I wonder if Dido would stop them doing that? i doubt it
Talktalk are always in the Asda canvasing for buisness. They ask me who am I with I reply Talktalk. They let me get on with my buisness. I was saying this before I was with them. |

BEWARE! Even though I am opted out of all marketing from TalkTalk I am being bombarded by marketing phone calls/emails and letters. Even the intervention of Dido Harding's office hasn't stopped the harassment! Disgusting! Latest unwanted letter was from Tristia Harrison (Executive Commercial Director)
Don't switch to TalkTalk! |

The regulators are a waste of time. Most are under-resourced, and the big ones such as Ofcom consider themselves far too grand to deal with the great unwashed and are too close to those they are supposed to regulate.
Here's one way to solve the problem. Don't rely on others, hit TalkTalk where it hurts - in the pocket. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-20068927 |

I have not heard from talk Talk for a while now, they don't know know my home phone number now anyway as that have changed and as far as i know I have not had any of them come to my door, since mid last year.
I do get the odd leaflet through the door, but it is not adressed to me, so I presume every one will get that. I do get emails from Bt still and no matter what emails I send saying do not send me emails they still do, but that is easy to solve. |

I had a call a month ago from someone claiming to be TalkTalk but just because someone say they are does not mean that they are after all if I said I’m the Pope would you believe me... no thought not.
Anyways the call I had from some slammers claiming to be TT called from 01162421980 and since putting their number in my call blocker on the first of February they have rang every day, four or five times and as far as I’m concerned they can ring a 100 times a day 24/7 as my phone remains silent. I’m on TPS too but there to be taken with a pinch of salt and they are there, as they say “Just to make the people feel good” so the call blocker really does work and the past year I’ve had my blocker I’ve only got caught about 4 times by the, about your accident, about your loan etc, etc brigade. |

ICO and Ofcom: The Dynamic Duo's Joint Action Plan
The ICO and Ofcom have today published an update to their handwringing programme.
http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/bin...p-update-mar14 Can't help thinking that the problem would vanish overnight if there were a few jail sentence for the head honchos of companies making calls to TPS numbers or acting on sales leads obtained this in this way. Don't hold your breath ! ![]() |

I have Truecall and it is a god send for me.... I look at which numbers are telephoning me evey week and the amount of sales calls that are trying to get through is unbelieveable. One day I was telephone 18 times by one number within a five hour period, but because I only allow star callers through (family, friends and people who I deal with) the rest quickly get a dead line tone and don't get in contact with me.

Thanks for the tips folks. I am registered with TPS, but that didn't stop the calls. I can now block numbers and so have blocked their Manchester code marketing number. Despite the intervention of their CEO's office I was still getting TalkTalk marketing through the post. I will keep you updated. Their excuse was that it can take up to 28 days, however the CEO's office hadn't advised me of that. Their latest email has been forwarded to Dido Harding's work email with choice language! I have advised them I will be invoicing them for my time and inconvenience if it continues!

I had to block the talktalk numbers as well when I first changed to them. But the calls seemed to have stopped since I blocked them.
Now I just have to stop the calls from debt collectors for the person who used to have this number! Not to mention three calls from the blood transfusion service for the previous line owner yesterday! Another one for the blocker! I thought that numbers had to lie fallow for a year before being reissued? The number of calls for the previous line owner appear to suggest that is not happening. |

I have caller identification and if I don 't know a number, I look it up on Google. Then I mark it as "nuisance caller".

Don't give them the time of day.
A soon as any call becomes obvious it's marketing, I simply speak over them and say "I'm sorry we don't take marketing calls" and put the phone down. As for the TPS or MPS, it can help but doesn't in the majority as I believe the TPS has no enforcement powers and the regulator fails to punish companies that break the rules. I believe there has to be a huge number of complaints over many many occasion before they'll even consider action. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telepho...erence_Service |

HI All,
If any customers are experiencing problems with Marketing you can opt out of marketing calls by logging into My Account and going to the Manage My Marketing Preferences section. For any non custoemrs reiceving marketing this only occurs due t one of two things. Either you have conducted a check on the TT website, allowing us to contact you in relation to services. Alternatively (as appears to be one custoemrs example above) it may be the previous owner of the number had authorised marketing contact from ourselves. HGowever if a non-customer wants to opt out of marketing you can contact us on the TalkTalk Community where we will be hapy to process your request. Marketing opt outs can take upto 28 days to take effect. Cheers Mark Online Community Department TalkTalk TalkTalk Community |
