Phillips HMP2000

The new Phillips box looks interesting.

Lovefilm AND Netflix,
4OD,
BBC iPlayer,
Youtube,
WiFi streaming,
USB drive support.

All from a box similar in size to Apple TV box and capable of 1080p.

If anyone gets one of these or sees one working could you please let us know what you think and is anything else available ie. ITV Player etc

From what I can see online it only comes with Netflix and YouTube. A post on AVforums says if your not a Netflix subscriber then the unit is pretty much limited at the moment.
For £49.99 I maybe tempted myself if Netflix doesn't arrive on my Sony Blu Ray player soon.

I also thought it was Netflix and Youtube, but as posted in the Tech section of Digital Spy today it seems it offers a lot more. On the Phillips website it does not mention Lovefilm but does say an astounding range of online services and also mentions Facebook, Picasa, AccuWeather, Youtube and Netflix.
Hopefully someone here will get of one soon and give us a review.

Hands-on review ..

Actually looks incredibly limited on the face of it. The BBC and C4 content is via Netflix, not 4OD and iPlayer.

It will be interesting to see if Phillips add any more services andhow much support they give this box.
For the price, this has the potential to compete with smart bluray players, roku etc. Lets hope Phillips have more planned for this box.

It's been confirmed by someone that's actually got this unit that all it's got is Netflix and YouTube, No BBCiPlayer, ITV,4OD or Lovefilm.
And also as far as they are aware you cannot change the DNS to get US Netflix.

Looks like Philips are heading for a $1bn loss this year and it’s no surprise to understand why, just look at this box, could have been great but what a joke. Also did anyone buy their HDT 8520 set-top box (okay this was all down to Pace but Philips put their name to it), yet another joke.

"We are cautious about 2012 given the uncertainty in the global economy, and Europe in particular," said Chief Executive Frans van Houten, with some irony on a backdrop of “Sense and simplicity”, he’s certainly lacking sense and appears a little simple! See for yourself here:

I’m sure most of the people on this forum could have done a MUCH better job on the product specifications of these at a fraction of what it has cost Philips.

Does “pulling out of its TV business” include this box?
