I have been looking at some of the quotes from major insurance companies for dog insurance and iam confused by all the different quotations.any advice please on which is the most reasonable and reliable Thank You

They vary really according to what you want, but Sainsbury's -of all people- have always been very good with us.

PetPlan have been very good over the years. I have a small dog who unfortunatly due to a breeding problem has a collapsing trachea whichcreates a symptom similar to an Asthma attack and has required regular medication, without PetPlan she would not be here today (She is now 14). They even helped out when she suffered ligament damage to her knee which we believed was going to be the end of her, without their help we would never of been able to afford the surgery she underwent and we did not want to put down a dog that was both happy and generally healthy, the surgery was a great success and I can not thank PetPlan enough so they get my vote.
We also found that due to the nature of their business the Vets have a very good working relationship with them that has made all claims go through very smoothly with very limited paperwork required (the vets often just take care of it)

I would also recommend Petplan who aren't the cheapest but our first dog had a degenerative condition and they were very easy to deal with, he had all the treatment he needed and we didn't have to argue for anything, they also paid our vet direct which made things easier.

We have a younger dog now and after doing much research and going through Which magazine recommendations we went with Petplan again as some things (such as dental treatment) weren't comprehensive enough for my liking in other plans.

I have used Pet Plan for years and when I recently got a new puppy, I was looking for insurance and there are literally hundreds of companies out there! I wanted cheaper than Pet Plan but after a long and enlightening chat with my trusted vet - I stuck with them!

In short - there are many cheap and nasties out there who let you down when it comes to paying out. Many will say that they will pay the vet and do not, leaving them with debts etc etc.

Pet Plan are trustworthy and in my experience pay out within two weeks of getting the claim form, it is hassle free and reassuring which is what I want.

Another vote for Petplan here. As has been said. they're not cheap but very reliable, easy to deal with, pay direct to vet and, most importantly, they don't try to get out of paying. I don't have dogs but Petplan has been great to me and my cats over the years.

Just make sure you buy a plan that covers your pet for the whole of its life. A lot of plans are cheaper as they end when the pet is 8/9 years old, so avoiding the most expensive time in their lives.

Good point, this is something else also in petplans favour.

With our old dog his policy payment went up at age 8 with his excess but they didn't quibble over his treatment and it was still much cheaper for us.

He had a degenerative condition in his final years and we had the relief of knowing we didn't have to worry about his treatment.

got 2 newfoundlands both with pet plan, They have been brill already paid over 30,000 in vet bills for my 7 year old boy (Digby Doo) and my 5 year old female (Dolly Dimple) about 10,000 so far, also lost a female (Molly Moo) to cancer and because she was under 5 years old they paid us the money we brought her with, They have never even asked any question about any of the dogs just pay up every time , It does cost us nearly £200 a month to insure both dogs but my girl is having £1'000 a month in pills at the moment for alligies, So guess wot...my vote is for PETPLAN
