Is Cher Lloyd a pop artist?
Or is she R&B or hip-hop? I'm not really sure of the true definitions of the 3 tbh!
For example Cheryl Cole & Rihanna, are they R&B artists because a lot of tracks on their albums are quite urban |

I would say all three are crossover artists as they all seem to branch into several genres....the same could be said for many of the artists in the charts today...

Sorry OP but could you please explain why she or anyone else needs to be pigeon holed. Many artists crossover from one style to another. Seems a pointless exercise to me. They are singers.

They are all Pop artists. It makes me laugh at most artists' definition of Urban/Rnb and Hip-Hop and when the consider themselves to fit into that genre just because they have a few rapper features. Cher and Cheryl are far from it, more of an embarrassment to those genres.

They're not R&B by the true definitaion of the genre but I suppose they could be by the way the term is used to describe any old watered down crap these days.

What about 'Better to lie' or 'Heartbreaker'? Wouldn't they be RnB songs that Cheryl's done?

So by definition, unforunately she is. Heavy metal is popular music, generally (although there are relatively less popular (underground) sub-genres of it).In the '80's Glam metal was considered pop even, although wouldn't now I don't think. Pop is generally accepted to include short-to-medium length songs, written in a basic format which is often the verse-chorus structure, which generally make usage of repeated choruses, have a melodic sound, and have catchy hooks.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_mus...40.about.com-0 Cher if you follow the definition above follows the format.Whether she is a good example of pop is up to the listeners appreciation of her songs ![]() ![]() ![]() Think Cher is the bastardised version of pop they call Hip pop these days.I blame The Black Eyed Peas myself ![]() Think she's going to create her own genre of pop music though soon - Cuss pop which is adult oriented (well juvinal late teen ) form of pop music or at least that what she said anyway http://tellymix.co.uk/reality-tv/the...re-mature.html
