My phone recently broke including the sim card as I'm on a 24month contract and am only 13months in there was no chance of an upgrade. My sisters friend sold me her iPhone 4 as she needed the money for going travelling and couldn't bring the phone with her, she told me she thought she phone was unlocked I'm tmobile she's O2 and because I didn't have a sim I couldn't check it.

Anyways my sim finally arrived but comes up as no service when I put it in the phone, I've tried ringing tmobile and was put through to some completely useless woman who told me to go to "triple w.apple.com" and then she hung up. I've tried to connect to iTunes and it says the sim is unsupported, does this mean the phone is locked or do I need to register my sim first? If it is locked how do I go about getting it unlocked?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I can't ask the girl who sold it to me anything as she left this morning, which is very frustrating!

Sim unsupported means its locked but your sister should be able to unlock with o2 for free at https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?...locking%20Form (Or you if you know her details.)

It was my sisters friend so I don't know her details but my sister is also with O2 and has the same iPhone if I gave her my phone for a few days and she used it could she get it unlocked?

I've emailed O2 to ask if there is a way to get it unlocked without being a customer and am waiting for a reply!

That wouldn't work. You have to have been a customer for three months to be able to get it unlocked.

Fill out this form
https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?...locking%20Form

It costs £15 if you're a PAYG customer. Takes 14 days.
