Yes, think World Without End is due in the autumn so knowing C4 they'll put it against Downton.
I agree though with Sky locked in a deal with HBO it should be Showtime and Starz they're looking at - and to be fair that it where their recent US commissions have come from. Cable drama is generally quite strong in the US at the moment with TNT and AMC also making their mark - indeed I'd say at the moment they're probably in a healthier state than network drama.

As much as I've moaned every year about the same old BBC1 schedule on Christmas Day the last thing I'd want to see on BBC1 on Christmas Day is something like Call the Midwife. It would be better suited to the Sunday a couple of days earlier.

Sadly true - though C4 have done the Hollyoaks omnibus no favours by taking it out of it's regular 10/10.30am slot and moving it earlier and earlier and earlier, often beginning now before 9am. Hopefully at least with the move to E4 it'll get a more hangover friendly slot.

No surprise about Being Human considering the shows two lead stars are gone - but the second generation is working for me at the moment. I know BBC3 have gone on record as saying either Being Human or Lip Service will be axed as they'll only have the budget for one of them, so hope that isn't what ultimately determines the fate of the show.
As for the flagship shows last night - Homeland did well, so be interesting to see if it retains viewers over future weeks. And for any other show 6.7m for a second series premiere would seem brilliant - but in comparison to both Downton and Call the Midwife it is somewhat underwhelming.
However it's the sort of figure that can be spun either way - as I said at the weekend I've a feeling it'll flop this year so I'm seeing 6.7m as a poor rating when it clearly isn't. Others I'm sure will see it as a superb rating - though IMO it's a few hundred thousand short to fall in that category.

that is funny.
