Another good night for ITV1 and it may not be such a huge dip tonight with The Brit Awards airing. BBC One will be very pleased with The Diamond Queen's performance and yet none of the documentaries really seemed to knock each other. Panorma picked up a great figure yet didn't really dent Coronation Street. I thought The Bleak Old Shop Of Stuff would've benefited more than other programming from the University Challenge but obviously not. Home and Away's first look is often overlooked when considering the state of the show; adding the two figures together still results in a figure comfortably above 1m.

I agree to some extent that all channels have crap on them, however Channel 4 is also home to some of the best factual programmes at the moment and THE best drama (Homeland) I have seen in years. It has more going for it than C5 in terms of quality prgrammes.

I take it you're not impressed with the March lineup. That'll do me.

Sky Arts to air original 'Homeland'

"The Israeli drama that provided the inspiration for new US thriller Homeland has been acquired by Sky Arts."

Starting in May.

Come off it Dancc - C4 has been the subject of much criticism here week in week out over recent months, though it does seem in March they'll be taking a turn for the worse.

Wow, did Hollyoaks randomly double in ratings? I am sure it was at like 750k last week, and now its at 1.43m.

Also I always forget to say but it's great that Coppers always scores around a 2m every episode.

Skins- A bit embarrassing.

Skins is always embarrassing these days. It's game over for them.

Watson and Oliver didn't do well. Lowest rated show for BBC 2 last night, I bet they expected more.

Except the ITV2 shows, however bad we may find them, do actually find and maintain an audience, people talk about The Only Way Is Essex and Celebrity Juice in Heat and on Twitter in a way they don't about Channel Five's lowest common denominator stuff, so the shows aren't even that appealing to the target audience. And it's hardly snobbery against Channel Five because there are plenty of reasons to stick the boot into ITV2, it shows perennial punching bag Jeremy Kyle for a start.

True enough, this, the F1 deal still means everyone will see all the races, and if it was announced the Beeb had a deal with only half the test matches live and the rest as highlights, or only one FA Cup match from each round and the rest as highlights, it would be a bloody big deal. The only reason this is seen otherwise is because a vocal minority of F1 fans keep on moaning.

Seinfeld is one of my favourite ever TV series but it's never going to be a big hit in Britain, alas, regardless of what channel it's on, and certainly not if they only show it once a week. Doesn't say in the Radio Times what episodes they are but of they start it from Series 1 Episode 1 it's never going to catch on.

Also next week on Sky Atlantic, of course, is Cleverdicks, the quiz with Ann Widdicome, which I am staggered to see is on at 7pm, five nights a week, for an hour. For a start, a dull quiz of the kind that would be more at home on teatime BBC2 is a ridiculous thing to show in primetime, and Widdicome must be the worst choice of presenter ever. In addition, 7pm is surely the exact time an ABC1 audience is channel hopping hoping to find something a bit more cerebral than The One Show and Emmerdale, which I fear this will not be.

And also, it completely cocks up the Sky Atlantic brand, I know Sky have said it's not going to be all American shows and seemingly the idea is that Sky One is mainstream fun and Sky Atlantic is the posh one, but hardly any viewers understand that. It just looks like Sky don't know what they're doing. I don't recall Robert De Niro mentioning Cleverdicks in the trailer.

The comments about the HBO deal are right, I think. It reminds me of when Sky signed this deal and everyone was going "What does this mean for Mad Men?", and of course Mad Men isn't on HBO. I know they've bought it since but most British viewers don't have a clue what is and isn't HBO, it's a bit like how American viewers assume every British show is from the BBC.

They sort of did a comeback series because there was a long gap between 1994 and 1997, with the return being quite big because it was the one when the husbands were released. The 1997 run was also the first show on Mondays at 9.30 after they moved Panorama. I seem to recall Birds of a Feather being a big show in its day, I think the last series did impressive business in 1998, but I dunno if anyone thinks very much of it these days.

Hmm, the first sitcom in the Miranda slot since, er, Miranda, but it didn't do much at all, despite it being extremely starry. No surprise Watson and Oliver flopped, it was awful.

When Widdecombe was interviewed a few weeks ago (on R5L Richard Bacon I think) she said it is a very upmarket quiz with very diificult questions.

Wheher that will actually prove to be the case I guess we'll have to wait and see.

indeed, although it is at the end of the day a quiz and I dunno what it could do that, say, Pointless isn't doing, which also has very difficult questions. And I really don't think it fits on Sky Atlantic.

Those are pretty disappointing ratings for a Monday night IMO. The first Corrie did OK, and looking at the tape-checked figures, both were about 9.1m. Low for EE again for a Monday. And again 0.7m between EE and Emmerdale.

OK, here we go Robbie. Just 712k between the two based on first showings. So pretty much the same as the last few weeks actually. The gap is almost identical for the last few Monday's.

The guy who used to post them on Gallifrey Base, reposted in here, worked for the BBC and was made redundant last week.

That also means no more weekly Appreciation Index figures.

It's two episodes back to back each Monday at 8pm and they started with the pilot. First time in UK in remastered 16:9/HD.

It's a different alternative to soaps and TOS. She's quite amusing on the promos.

As for ABC1's, I've just checked the demos for their other british 'game show', the upmarket CDWM, The Devil's Dinner Party and it's getting 34.7% AB and 41.4% C1. 76.1% ABC1s is very high.

No I'm not impressed with it, although overall A do still find Chanel 4 to have some of the best shows on television (particularly factual) compared to Chsnnel 5 which doesnt even seem able to build audiences for original programming well at all and there ageng crime dramas are done year on year it seems and some look certain to be axes.

Channel 4 shouldn't be exempt from criticism, some of the stuff is awful but when it's good... It's brilliant. I can't say the same of C5 which is rarely brilliant (although I do enjoy Hotel Insoector, Paul Merton and Royal Marines.)

Well, on the DVD commentary even Larry David is staggered how bad the first series is, so I'm not holding out much hope for anyone else getting into it. And given it's been on DVD for nearly a decade, I don't think being in 16:9 is going to be much of a draw, it's not making it any funnier, is it?

The first season is long gone on Sky Atlantic, didn't Larry tell you it was only four episodes?

As for 16:9, at least everyone will be watching it correctly, rather than stretching a 4:3 picture to fill their screens, making George look even shorter and fatter.
