What was the overnight and official series average? That 11.36m is an excellent rating to end with.

Does the 10.45m peak for the football include the simulcast on Sky Sports? If not, then the true peak could be more like 13m.

That's a good question. I assumed it was for BBC1.

1.804m peak for SS1 (exl. 3D which I was watching).

BBC Sport say 9.9m peak on BBC1, which I assume is the 15 minute peak and consistent with an absolute peak of 10.5m during the pens.

John Williams of Sky, reliable Ratings Thread source also claims 10.5m for BBC1

I thought 11m was possible. But that blitzed it!

It's not inconceivable that this figure could be Downton threatening!

A triumph for ITV's Stop The Midwives task force.

So a cumulative peak of 12.25m (exc 3D) between the BBC and Sky Sports for the football then. That is truly a mammoth rating.

Downton Abbey is still the drama leader, if Call The Midwife can get 2m timeshifts & 12m viewers each episode in series 2 then it will be right up there with it.

If you call 0.36m above your expectation a blitzing, then congrats!

Call the Midlife Crisis has completely passed me by. Really don't see the appeal of this one.

Don't forget Sky reckon you should add one-third to the BARB figure to include people watching in pubs to get the true figure for a major sporting event. I was watching the shoot-out on BBC1 in a pub with 10 other people.

Spending big, going after the big names, staying loyal to the style and format of the show - it all whiffs of Danny Cohen starting to exert himself. Aggressively winning the format rights to begin with wasn't the sort of thing I could ever have envisaged Jay Hunt doing. And it doesn't look like having won those rights the BBC are going to risk killing the show by way of a thousand tiny cuts and edits either.

More power to Danny Cohen if thats the case. I can't imagine I'll be an avid Voice viewer, but that kind of ambition and attitude is much more what I want from BBC One, rather than the countless half-hearted attempts at Saturday night entertainment we've seen in the past few years.”

Reading about The Voice on here and I agree that I want to see BBC1 being more ambitious with their Saturday night light entertainment. ITV's offerings from Simon Cowell have looked more expensive and glitzy than most shows on BBC1. Only Strictly has managed to hold its own.

BBC light entertainment has a cheap stigma, The Voice looks like it will avoid that label.

Speaking of The Voice, the French version launched on Saturday evening to 9m which was very big for its host channel.

You'd think most pubs would have the Sky broadcast on though, but interestingly the pub I was in at kick off and the one I walked past on the way home were showing BBC1.

Mind you, it is posh round my way....

Thanks Mike!

I see Call The Midwife actually had 11.41m! What a success story that was for BBC1! Huge!
RobbieSykes123

Call the Midwife - 11.41m
Upstairs Downton - 7.87m
Antiques Roadshow - 7.01m (opposite Corrie!)
Let's Dance - 6.84m
(last ever) Hustle - 6.80m

The heavily squeezed and caught in a pincer movement Top Gear still managed 5.28m - low by its standards, but it was up against a 11.4m rating behemoth and a 9.02m rating Corrie!

What other show could manage >5m against 11m and 9m shows - at the same time!

Prisoners' Wives (5.18m) and Inside Men (4.45m) both seem to have rallied a bit from their overnights that week.

The prestigious and world-renowned all-Premier League FA Cup on a Saturday evening on ITV1: 4.58m incl HD

(vs the lowly Carling Cup featuring a Championship side, from Wales, which delivered an overnight 6m audience for BBC1 yesterday, 10.5m peak... )

Could someone post the series 1 official numbers for DA and CTM, together in one post, just so we can see them together for ease of reference?

(Yes, I know, "wasn't on in Scotland", blah, blah, blah.... )
