In the days of yore when the world was young and BBC and ITV used to show the same World Cup and European champs games with the same vision feed, the only difference being the commentators, you would hear so many viewers saying ''The BBC was better'' in terms of coverage when the pictures were exactly the same ! It seems there has always been this perception when the BBC covers the same event as another broadcaster so I'm not really surprised the pubs were showing the BBC version.I was in a certain hostelry for the penalties and the punters actually asked for the BBC version despite the fact Sky was available - I think that must tell us something.If the Sky theory is correct (see my post #988) the true audience must have been nearer 15 million
