Thought he'd already revealed them to Piers Morgan....on, er, ITV.

it does seem like an oddly low figure, especially when PvPS only got 3407 + 230

that's not a high figure against EE is it?

Hmm i'm sure the usual ITV fodder against EE usually gets at the most 3.5-4.0

We established last night that EE aired 7.27 to 7.56, so that reported 7.2m figure is not for EE really...

That said, the actual 7.64m is not great. Cue a day of ITVistas filing the thread with "EE in crisis" posts....

I'd say all the big 4 are underperforming.

Me too. Corrie has a big week coming up so it will be interesting to see what it is pulling in this time next Thursday.

I doubt 2/3 minutes made much difference to EastEnders rating though. I think its now time to realise things are going wrong for them. It always seems excuses are being made for EastEnders underperforming from BBQs in Feb to early starts or Football and I am sick of it. Its in a bad way and needs to be sorted out. If it was good enough people would watch. That said last nights episode was a good one but that doesn't count for much thesedays. I think heads have been buried in the sand for too long on this subject....

Emmerdale had more viewers than EastEnders for its full half an hour than EE's full half an hour and there wasnt even a clash. Thats very bad for EE. Whats the excuse for yesterday? Was it the football, student night out, late-night shopping, 2 minute early start, traffic in London so viewers couldnt get home or is someone going to trot out the hot weather and BBQ excuse ?

What's the point in comparing full slot ratings when the tape-checked ones are available?

Edit: and actually you're wrong anyway as you're presumably including +1 for Emmerdale (viewers watching in another timeslot) so it's not like for like at all.

I think all the soaps need to pull their socks up really. EastEnders has been awful for months though and it's about time something was done, unless I'm just missing all the good episodes. But I tune into one episode a week usually to see if the quality has improved, but it's still bad. I'm hoping
Spoiler
Heather's murder will be good.
It sounds promising, but I'm not sure what kind of figure the BBC should be expecting for that episode. I'd say 10m with the BBC3 repeat included, based on how it's been rating in general lately.

Coronation Street need to stop revealing major plotlines as it just kills tension and then it's boring watching the plot play out on screen when you know the details of what's going to happen.

I think what all the soaps need to do is to seriously cut down on spoilers (it'll be difficult with the press etc) but they should only give out hints and red herrings as to what will happen with characters and plotlines, so as to build suspense and excitement within the audience. Also, the soaps need to have more long running plotlines, involving big secrets etc. Soaps need to become must see TV again. It just feels like lately, they really aren't and are just going through the motions. It's felt like that with EastEnders for a long time.

Eastenders is going through a rough patch at the moment in terms of ratings and quality. I dont think its time to start calling it a crisis just yet, if ratings dont pick up with the Heather murder storyline soon then maybe the Beeb need to act.

I don't think ratings are being helped really by the slightly warmer weather as of late, but even so, disappointing ratings in some spots. On the positive, Channel 4 will be pleased I think with their 9pm rating, definitely their stand-out for the night.

With February Sweeps over, CBS and ABC dove straight into repeats. That (among other factors) allowed American Idol to post an 18% increase from last week to a 5.3 rating and a season high (Thursday) viewership of 18.3m. The Voice had a 5.4 final on Monday and upward adjustments are likely for Idol so it should at least tie #1 for the week. Other factors in Idol's rise were that it was a 2 hour show and IIRC this stage (where they announce the finalists) rated very well last year.

NBC ran original programming and got no reward with its sitcom block down and a slow start for its new 10pm drama, Awake.

NBC:
8pm - 30 Rock - 3.77m (1.4)
* Down a tenth vs last week
8.30pm - Parks & Recreation - 3.78m (1.7)
* Ties last weeks series low
9pm - The Office - 4.96m (2.5)
* Down a tenth vs last week
9.30pm - Up All Night - 3.48m (1.6)
* Down a tenth
10pm - Awake - 6.25m (1.9)
* Series premiere

Bad start for Awake. Never listen to the hype from the critics, the show was too complicated and weird to get a big audience. It'll be axed in a few episodes time.

Has Emmerdale ratings improved or is Eastenders getting lower? I don't think I remember emmerdale ratings always been that high

For all the wailing about EastEnders it's worth noting it actually beat Coronation Street in terms of share (Coronation Street actually came third share wise, behind EastEnders and Emmerdale 7pm).

It appears as though the audience was not there last night - as shown by all the channels struggling for viewers somewhat. I think the only channel who can be satisiied with their night is Channel 4, though I suppose BBC One's daytime filler didn't disgrace itself. It's a shame, as a new series of a British drama, that Kidnap and Ransom didn't do better.

On the plus side for broadcasters is that the weather has become decidely chilly which may have some bearing on tonight's ratings.

8.334m for EE last night, hammering EM as usual. CS won the night though, let's see what happens tonight.

EastEnders must be in a state if you're having to bring the second showings into it.
