LOL, Worst excuse ever. Programmes on commercial TV routinely finish way short of the advertised end time, due to adverts, maybe all ratings for commercial TV should have 0.5m added to their rating to even things up.

EE must be in a state if it is now compared to Emmerdale to show that it is doing well.

It is worth remembering that Thursday is Coronation Street's lowest night. EastEnders came first on a Thursday practically every week in 2011 which generated many posts about Corrie's rating and it's uneven scheduling week in week out. This makes the EE rating even worse.

BBC1 need to have EE going out dead on 7.30pm/8.00pm as applicable. Stick a news bullettin before if need be, or indeed a trailer for a Saturday night show, The One Show ought end 7.28pm at the earliest. Peak-time ratings are very important and skewing them incorrectly is very unwise and knocks the rating. Surely some people are paid (on all main channels) to keep things running like clockwork.

Attentional do tape-check the ratings for Corrie and Emmerdale that's why the ones reported by DS are nearly always higher than the initial overnight figures posted in this thread.

Robbie's point is valid. I don't know why you're implying only EastEnders is tape-checked.

Watchdog is back in two weeks' time, so that should sort out the Thursday soap ratings.

Says in Broadcast that Would I Lie To You is going to be pre-watershed for the next series, which is probably not a surprise. From 10.30 to 9.30 to 8.30 in three series.

Also, if and when Red Or Black comes back, apparently it won't have the roulette wheel for the final round. That's the entire point of the programme! Apparently it's going to be a game of skill instead, which completely screws up any sort of appeal it might have had. Seemingly they've decided the embarrassment of completely changing the entire format and admitting the original format was rubbish is less than the embarrassment of just axing it completely. Which they should do.

Hopefully EE will bounce back tonight, surely 8m + the repeat showing

If +1 can continually be added to boost ratings for Corrie and Emmerdale I don't see the problem. As a defender of ITV you probably look at the +1 ratings yourself Fudd.

You know for all a big deal is being made out of EE's ratings in this thread, it was only 800k or so behind Corrie and I don't think 8.4m is all that good for Corrie considering we're building up to .

It's not like Corrie has never won the occasional Thursday either depending on the storyline so I love Andy making out it's never happened before.

I like CS & EE doing well, I do watch EE a lot more, CS less so. If it cheers up the ITV1 fans, then EE losing versus CS is not all in vain.

I was defending EastEnders earlier - it's only a bit of banter between me and grahamxyz because he's been staunchly against using second viewings in the past. I think +1 has an important role to play in viewing and should be counted because it means people are more likely to watch shows without the facility and then catch up on a timeshift channel. Just in the same way as iplayer etc. are included in officials; we just get +1 earlier.

its worth pointing that in the past, EE has not needed the BBC 3 ratings, to beat Emmerdale or Corrie, so the need to add it in, (when the rating is normal) is low for the show.

Look at the ratings for Corrie and Emmerdale - is EE really rating so much worse by comparison? EE actually won the night going off share.

Corrie should be clearing 9m with the continuation of the Frank saga building up to Monday's episodes.

I'm not denying these are low ratings for this time of year but it seems to me all 3 soaps are experiencing similar lows and it's unfair just to focus on EE's shortfalls.

Is all good-natured Fudd, i think both soaps are due a boost very soon with the murder storylines, EE needs Phil back asap also. Just watched CS and Gwen Taylor was excellent putting Sally straight. If EE drops 1m below CS (including all showings) then I would find it hard to defend such a performance.

Looks like Live with Gabby is getting another revamp, this time by getting rid of Gabby! They're replacing with guest hosts such as Fern Britton and Myleene Klass. TBH I think Channel 5 should give up finding a companion show for The Wright Stuff.

It's a cheap hour of TV. But it's astonishing that it can't hold onto more of the TWS audience, with only a third on average sticking around. I've noticed they have introduced a break in between the two shows now as well so looks like they've given up trying to boost it that way.

With news of Trisha getting a US chat show deal, maybe C5 should look to buy that for the 11.10 slot? Repeats of her old show were doing ~200k IIRC, so a new series could do quite well. Might be their best bet.

It's worth remembering that Emmerdale is coming down after a strong storyline (John's death) and Coronation Street is building up to a climax of a storyline while EastEnders is in the middle of an 'everyday' patch at the moment which may be affecting the relative ratings.

I think with The Wright Stuff being nearly two hours, the bulk of the audience isn't going to stick around for another hour watching a similar show.

this is the problem, The Wright Stuff has been extended as long as it can be, and no one really cares for what is up next.

Shame Channel 5 could really use something in daytime.
