It's already a pretty big ask for viewers to stay with The Wright Stuff for two hours though. C5 would be better off pushing The Wright Stuff a little bit later and axing Live with... - though if they do need to get that third hour of content from Princess Productions C5 might be better off trying something later in the day completely separate from The Wright Stuff. Even pushing Live with... back to 12.15pm and giving viewers an hours break might work.

P.S. This might blow Robbies mind:

It's more a case Gabby leaving than her being got rid of.

Shame though, I think she comes across really well on it. Very natural and funny. When I'm at home I watch channel 5 all morning, a great alternative to the drivel on ITV1.

I don't follow soap ratings so I checked the same night last year. Viewing in the 7pm hour was down 4% and the 8pm hour was down 3%. Eastenders was down 9%, Corrie was down 2% and Emmerdales episodes were down 2% and 5%. For repeats, Corrie was up from 175k on +1 to over 300k. Emmerdale was pretty much flat and Eastenders BBC3 repeat was down over 100k.

Make of that what you will!

I'd imagine that's going to act as a placeholder on the EPG for More4 HD which is expected to launch sometime soon. By launching +2 they gain the EPG number that they are after now rather than risking it disappearing.

Yes, understandably she says she wants to concentrate on her BBC Sport commitments this year and that it'd be difficult to juggle those, LWG and her personal life. Classy lady, good luck to her.

March is going to be a busy month for TV talent shows. If The Voice is X Factor with spinning chairs then Sky1 would seem to have found Britain's Got Talent with trap doors. Don't Stop Me Now is a talent show where all the audience are waiting for their chance to get on the stage. Once there, the rest of the audience will judge them and if more than half of them press their "red x" on a keypad, the floor opens up beneath the act. If they survive 100 seconds they progress with a shot at £25,000. Amanda Byram hosts and various celebrity guests are on hand to comment. It's being produced by Magnum Media who make Chris Moyles' Quiz Night.

Another Let Me Entertain You rip off. Indeed whatever happened to the Claudia Winkleman show C4 were going to do - think it was called something like Wannabee.

Peak-time ratings are very important and skewing them incorrectly is very unwise and knocks the rating. Surely some people are paid (on all main channels) to keep things running like clockwork.”

But BBC1 is a PSB. Not everything is about ratings. The news bulletin apparently attracts a lot of viewers that don't otherwise watch the news, so it performs a public service.

The answer here is surely to start EE (or whatever is at 7.30pm) at 7.25pm and have the news as a standalone programme at 7.55pm. That way the understandable complaints from those recording 7.30pm shows can be overcome

OT but for those who listen to Mayo and Kermde Radio film review show,(5 Live) has there been a reference to an ukelele yet.

I think people have had their fill of reality tv shows. This is reflected in falling ratings for the popular reality shows over the last year. I don't think BGT or the Voice will do as well as expected. I could be proven wrong but I really believe that, like Big Brother, these shows have had their day.
It is time to move on and to find something new to interest the public.

It did ascend rather rapidly though, which pretty much eliminated the chances of it being Channel 5.

"Reality" has been around forever. BGT and The Voice are just shiny floor shows the likes of which have always dominated Saturday nights. Just over 10 years ago there was a crisis on Saturday night TV because nothing was working and the broadcasters were scrambling to find replacements for 90's hits. The modern revival of the talent show turned that around.

The future of Saturday night TV is likely to be primarily in unscripted content (all of which is now categorised as "reality tv" it seems).

Surely the News (on any channel) is the ultimate reality show with real people living and dying?

Honk honk! Eddie Stobart's Trucks and Trailers stormed back onto C5 with a very strong overnight audience of 1.67m/6.9%.

The Mentalist followed with its highest overnight audience of the season: 1.7m/7%.

Friday 2 March Soap Ratings:

ITV1
19:00 Emmerdale- 7.52m (35.6%) +1 146k (0.6%)
19:30 Coronation Street- 8.67m (38.3%) +1 156k (0.6%)
20:30 Coronation Street- 9.19m (37.1%) +1 200k (0.8%)

BBC1
13:45 Doctors- 1.64m (22.4%)
20:00 Eastenders- 8m (33.7%)

BBC3
22:00 Eastenders- 719k (3.6%)

Channel4
18:30 Hollyoaks- 927k (4.7%)

E4
19:00 Hollyoaks- 505k (2.4%)

Channel5
13:45 Neighbours- 711k (9.6%)
17:30 Neighbours- 1.04m (6.5%)
18:00 Home and Away- 862k (4.7%)

5*
18:30 Home and Away- 483k (2.5%)

Very strong for Coronation Street and it looks set to climb further with the climax of a major storline at the beginning of next week. Eastenders performing slightly below par again, although the episode last night was truly awful once again so probably deservedly so.

I think Hollyoaks will probably be axed by the end of the year...

Terrible share for EastEnders there yet again.

I wonder if the BBC are concerned?

I agree. Revival of talent shows has worked but now people have had their fill of singing and dancing shows and BB type programmes. They need to be rested for another ten years and then will do well after another revival. We are being fed too many at the moment and they are repetitive. Although we are being told that the voice is different, I have seen it and it is the same.( The blind auditions don't make much difference, when it comes to the next stage of the show)

Both episodes of Corrie could well be above 10 million on Monday given the strong 20:30 rating from last night.
