PW reminds me alot of Luther in so far as it initially underperformed raringswise, but it's viewers were really passionate and loyal, will be interesting to see how second series of Prisoners wives does. When you see shows like Kidnap and Ransom getting very average ratings after a good first series , it makes it very difficult to predict how things will roll.

4 weeks of promo would be a lot, but I suppose it's not beyond the realms of possibility. These early teasers look good anyway. It's all about creating that excitement for the show.

I think they should strongly consider Sundays at 8pm, the same timeslot it has in the U.S. With Top Gear and Dancing on Ice out of the picture, it stands a fighting chance of finding a sizeable audience there. Not everyone is interested in antiques!

Maybe The Walking Dead could move to Mondays 10pm this season, as they never seem to know what to do with that slot and I doubt it would do any worse there than on Sundays. Then they would have new US drama on the channel every single night except Thursdays.

Being Human, 542k (overnights) > 671k (consolidated).

Skins 357k > 595k. (+1 110k >152k).

They ought to do top 20's for the major multichannels!!

I don't follow Being Human a lot, but that seems a lot down on last year? (I know Skins is, but that's been on decline for a while if I recall)

Ratings seem dull at the moment.

The F1 thread is full of F1 fanatics who I presume would have seen a problem if the Beeb showed the highlights at 2:10pm let alone 3pm. Its preaching to the converted.

The casual viewers wont care, the number of people who will get a Sky subscription just because the BBC1 F1 highlights are an hour later than previously known is so tiny its not worth considering.

Indeed, the Eddie Stobart show seems to be a hit with viewers, so let's schedule it opposite EE & Corrie!

9pm would be a better slot, but not on a Friday, or maybe 8pm on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

It's always been there and is well suited to the slot. Moving it to 9pm just makes 8pm weaker.

Anyway, that's what C5+1 is for. And with nearly 200,000 on the timeshift service for Friday's premiere, it was probably the most watched show of the week on that channel.

Well I didn't watch it live as it was opposite Corrie and then Benidorm. I don't have a Barb box though so I don't count anyway!

Brekkie's right. I really don't see how a ~1hr delay for F1 highlights on the BBC is going to have a noteworthy impact on Sky subscriber numbers. Presumably the vast majority who were going to jump ship because of F1 will have made this decision by now. Dunno if you've noticed but it's been quite highly publicised!

Talking of the F1 thread, one of the first comments I came across on there suggested the BBC had done very well indeed managing to sign up Ben Edwards for their team:

It'll be interesting to see if it can rebound from its underwhelming numbers of late. The most recent episode was just shy of the 900,000 mark in the officials, which looks low compared to the 1.1m-1.3m ratings it was getting last February.

On the plus side, 'Secret Street Crew' seems to be delivering excellent retention, so the night overall has been boosted even if GTD is down. I doubt Sky ever expected the gap between these two shows to be as small as ~100k.

I hope GTD does well tonight, it's a really good show. I remember when it was first announced as it was around the same time as BBC1 announced So You Think You Can Dance and everyone slagged off Sky1 for doing what was called a cheap copycat version of SYTYCD. It was pretty clear as soon as the two shows premiered (on the very same weekend) that GTD is a far superior show in every way. Better judges, better production, better host and much more fun, and tonight's live final in front of a 6,000 strong audience at the Olympia has really summed it all up. It's a pity it's been down a bit this year as it's been the best series yet. As you've said though, Secret Street Crew has done really well afterwards, and I'm sure both will be back next year. Ashley Banjo seems pretty popular, starring in both shows - I can see more TV work coming his way.

Agreed. It's probably been since that high since Sky Sports News was taken off Freeview in mid 2010. Thanks for the figures.
