My first feeling is that this round at least reminds me of Dragons Den, the coaches obviously being the Dragons. Then I remembered that the Dragons are not on swinging chairs, and know full well what they are investing in.
Also for the talk of the coaches competing to mentor a singer, the 4 coaches all come from a different background, Tom Jones and Will.i.am being the best example of this, and whilst a varied panel is good for the show, its going to e fairly easy for everyone to know who would make the best coach.
Also with all due respect to Jessie J, she is hardly the most experienced of the group, its a shame they cant have got another female judge, like say Andrea Corr.
In the past ive come up with a format (lets call it "Charnham Format #422"), which would see young musicans paired with someone like Damon Albarn, on the Oasis Brothers, Andrea Corr, Ringo Star. The young artist would spend a week or two with the legend, who will help them with skills like their voice, song writing, performance etc. Obviously people ill be paired off with a legend must helpful to them.
The end show, is the young artists preforming with the legend, preforming a new song, and a cover of a song of their choosing.
Whilst it is unfair for me to compare The Voice to a made up format, I cant help but feel The Voice is not my made up format, and too gimmicky.
