I did always like this song but does anyone else find it more poignant now she's died? I know it's always the way but I noticed it yesterday on the broadcast of her funeral, "so goodbye, please don't cry".

Beautiful song.

Nope, it was a dirge then and it still is now, one of the worst versions of that song.

In your opinion maybe but I would've said it was one of the best versions of that song to be covered.

Prefer the original and think Whitney's had better ballads

I have a soft spot for a lot of Whitney's music but I have to admit I don't like her version of this song and much prefer the original.

Not my favourite Whitney song, but it's up there.
Personally feel It was the best version of the song!

I find the studio version really boring. My favourite is the live version that's played at the end of the film. Here's the acapella for the whole live song that's in the film which has been extracted from the DVD; her voice sounds incredible without any studio editing!

I'll always prefer Dolly's version, but it's a fantastic cover.

I think it really suits her, it shows off her voice and I think her voice sells the song amazingly well, with the Acapella start and massive rousing finish. I love the part where there is a pause after "I wish you love" and she comes back with the huge "aaaand iiiiiiiii Will always love yoooooou"

My favourite performance of Whitneys, which now I think is sadder is her Grammy performance of One Moment in Time, not only is she sounding unbelievably good but the song is just so good. I don't think there's any doubting she seized her moment in time.

Watched Bodyguard last night

The version in that where they are dancing is a country one but not Dolly Parton it's some bloke?

I'm not a big fan of this compared to her other songs but maybe
something to do with it being massively overplayed.

Bodyguard really is a great film and the soundtrack one of the best of all time. I'm still in mourning over Whitney.

I love it
The dolly parton version is terribly awful. Thank god she let someone else cover it

My only problem is that with this song, people mistake it for a love song and it was once a most used wedding song. In actual fact, it is a break up song. Not a song i would want at my wedding personally.

I like both, you can really feel the emotion in Dollys version but i prefer Whitneys its beautifully sung and it will always be remembered as one of the best ballads

I was surprised it charted that high. Would have been lovely to have it inside the top 10 but the album is #2 I think?

Never been a fan of the song but fair play to Whitney who could at least sing.
