I think it will. I hope so anyway. Steps seem to be doing better than the Spice Girls when they reunited.

Well the tour has already sold out so it's a yes on that one
The new album, i very much doubt it will do well

Plus i disagree that Steps are doing better than Spice girls. Spice girls comeback tour went all around the world and the US especially were mad for it. I can't say the same for steps.

Why is there no option for 'tour won't - album won't'?

I'm surprised their record label are so willing to throw their money away in this economic climate, this isn't 2003. They will flop.

I'm presuming you vote "No"

New album?

It all depends on how good the album is really, so it is actually quite hard to predict that.

Their ultimate collection album has gone to number 1 whilst the spice girls collection has only gone to number 2.

But compare sales, not the peak positions

Spice girls album sold over 400k.
Steps sales stand at under 200k

Yeah but there tour is almost sold out? So they must be making money from it.

The venues are like racecourses etc...they have only managed to bag a few arenas in the big cities....their new album would do better as a compilation of old hits rather than new songs....none of them can sing and they can't get away with miming so easily now.

Good luck to them but it's not going to do as well as other comeback artists.

Yeah I can't see a new album doing well at all, people are really into the tour because it's abit of nostalgia but somehow I can't see a new album working.

In my opinion, it all depends on the material. If their tracks are strong dance/pop crossover anthems...then why not?

The charts are crying out for a good quality pop group...and Steps fills that brief perfectly.

Looking forward to more Abba/SAW style pop songs from one of the best pop groups of the last twenty years.

Those days are gone. Talentless groups like Steps won't be able to get away with shameless miming seeing as though none of them can sing. I think a tour is as far as they can go.

I think they can. Claire and Faye are brilliant singers imo. H is alright too imo. They were miming back then, now they sing live. Lee isn't the best singer but he is alright, Lisa's vocals have gone downhill.

Oh come on Zack...cheer up my friend.

A little history lesson coming up...do you remember the following...The Monkees from the 60s, Abba, The Carpenters and Brotherhood Of Man from the 70s, Bucks Fizz, Dollar and Bananarama from the 80s, Spice Girls, Eternal, S Club 7, Atomic Kitten and Steps from the 90s and Girls Aloud and JLS from the 00s?

Through the years, people have always loved good pop...and always will do. Where is the positive pop currently? If Steps' new tracks are strong enough, people will buy them, in my view.

Wouldn't it also be nice for a pop group, unconnected to the X Factor, to be successful?

For what it is worth, I believe Claire has a very strong voice to.

BIB - Agreed. It's not quite as good now as it was in the day but she will get it back with confidence. Faye is quite good too. H is alright too.

I agree with you.

I think the key is this...people will buy into Steps Part 2 if Claire, Faye, Lisa, H and Lee convey a genuine belief in what they are doing. If they believe in themselves and it comes across, the public will believe in them.

Until they sing live that is.

I think the tour will do well but the album will fail. It is not like they are Justin Bieber etc who have a huge fanbase that will buy anything they put out in order to add it to their collection. Most people will download the Steps album for free.

Lisa is the only one that sounds bad live. Faye and Claire sound great live. H sounds OK live too imo.

Is there a video of this? Because I've hardly ever heard them sing live and when they do, it isn't great at all.

They sang 'LIVE' several times last year on television (which few singers do) and - bearing in mind it has been ten years - they sounded fine...better in fact than they did back in the day, in my opinion. I am sure they have all been working hard since then to perfect their art as I am sure they want 'The Revival' to be a success.

yes, we're used to seeing a much higher calibre of pop talent these days.

I dunno if it was on this forum or somewhere else but a few years ago, I remember reading a 'Should Steps Get Back Together?' thread, to which the response was overwhelmingly negative and pessimistic. But then look what happened, a successful reunion, number one album and sell-out tour, something which even the most ardent of (remaining) fans were flabbergasted by.

And so I believe that a new album could work. Well, it'd be pretty hard not for it to be successful, if you are planning on having a weekly infomercial to support the project/album (an opportunity I'm sure many pop groups would kill for).

I suspect they might have the initial top 10, riding on the success of the tour but after that, they'll be looking at lower chart placings and appealing to a niche audience and I suspect a rather pink niche audience but it's an audience none the less and a profitable one at that.
