Tony has covered a few times now for Anne. Last time was about a month ago. He'll often have at least one radio-related guest a week. Last year he had Pat Sharp and Mike Smith. Think Keith Chegwin was on last month and tomorrow he'll be chatting to Chris Tarrant.

The woman with more time off than Wogan. ;-)

Often you will find her on her 'holiday' on The Wright Stuff on Channel 5.

It would also appear Tony is presenting Friday as well, this is unusual, he used to have them off. He use to present on another station if memory serves me right.

The promo for a Friday show use to be hiliarious, Tony would voice it. It went something along the lines of, on tomorrows Anne Diamond show I'm not here so Sarah Walker is sitting in. (not exact wording, but not far off)

He used to present the 10 til 2 slot on KCFM on Friday's in Hull, hence the reason he couldn't do them, but I think they've had a change of management at that station recently and Tony's show, was one of the ones that fell under their axe by the looks of things, which means he is now free to cover Anne's show all week when she's away, on BBC Bekshire.

If the DQF cuts meant we could have a networked Blackers Soul Show of a Saturday eve, you wouldn’t find me complaining!

With all the local BBC radio cuts I bet that is going down like a lead balloon with staff who face losing their jobs.

Tony's popularity just grows by the week though, just goes to show you can beat the oldies.

I honesty don't think Tony has every been unpopular with the audience, there was a period though when radio stations were being run by people who were 'misguided' and didn't employ him.

Anyway, he's on a roll again and long may it continue.

And while I'm here, I also think itswrong that Tony has been overlooked for an honour. Lesser broadcasters are now on Knighthoods for heavens sake. Its a national disgrace that his enormous contribribution to the music industry in this country has been ignored.

Have to agree, Tony's services to broadcasting surely must be recognised

Tony has never been unpopular with listeners it's definitely radio station bosses that had the problem firstly on Radio 1 by demoting him to weekends, Capital Gold turning him off Breakfast to be replaced by Mike Osman and then Classic Gold by not giving Tony the Gold Breakfast Show when Capital and Classic Gold merged

However Tony's the one who's stood the test of time and long may he reign.

Taking Tony off the Capital Gold breakfast show was NOT a disaster for him by any means. You have to remember that each local station had its own breakfast show, so Tony would only have been heard in London as the network expanded. However, the 4-7pm drivetime slot WAS networked, so he was, over a period of a few years, heard in a number of different parts of the country.

I listen to Mr B on BBC Radio 2 on a Saturday and Magic on a Sunday and also other shows on R2. He's on the Hull staion KCFM as well although I haven't tuned into that for a while as I can't pick it up in Leeds. Is he still on BBC Radio London?

Yes, Sundays, 12 till 2. It's available on satellite but if you have a Sky box you have to tune it in manually.

Tony is on BBC London (no "Radio" in their name these days) every sunday afternoon doing a Motown & Soul show 12-2pm. Sometime the show is cut short on FM to carry football commentary (it usually continues on DAB).

The KCFM show ended a couple of months or so ago when the P&O Ferries sponsorship deal ended.

Doesn't look like he's on tomorrow as BBC London have a Thames Jubilee Pageant show between 11 and 6.

Last week on Magic a text came in from Hull and Tony said something along the lines of "Glad to see my friends in Hull have all moved over to Magic" : D KCFM's loss is Magic's gain!

Looking forward to another great show this afternoon. I wonder what musical surprises Tony has for us today? I'd forgotten about Mr. DJ on WONE until last week, a great song!

Tony's show on Magic is a real treat!! But i wish Magic would get a slot on national DAB or Digital TV so i could listen without the PC??
I think Magic am is a lot better oldies station than Gold and should be available nation wide!!
