Worst Line Up in its short history, although Faith No More are brilliant, Queen should just let it go its becoming embarrassing, Lambert will never be in Freddie Mercurys dimension, plus he's up his own arse.

I hope Reading is a good one.

I've never understood why Adam Lambert gets so much love from music blogs. I've listened to quite a few of his songs and they're just not very good...

Personally I've heard better singers than Adam Lambert.

You should check the 'Queenzone' forums, finding love for him on there is like finding gold dust

lol .. surprise surprise barrcode88 starting a thread to slag off Adam Lambert ... I bet you couldn't wait when you read the sonisphere announcement ... an opportunity not to be missed to do a bit of Adam bashing

I'm a fan of Adam's so obviously I'm delighted ... it's not like he's perminently fronting the band ... I wouldn't want that and I'm sure neither would Adam, Brian or Rodger

He's not a replacement for Freddie, nobody could do that and Adam knows that and isn't deusional enough to think he could but Brian and Rodger obviously want to keep on playing a "Queen" and to do that they need someone to front the band and they seem happy enough to give Adam the opportunity and from all the interviews they have done they all really enjoy working together

Of course some people won't be happy and I understand those Queen fans who are a bit miffed ..... but there again they don't have to go to the gig or watch it on youtube, they can continue to listen to their records and watch their videos where Freddie was invoved, they don't have to continue to support Brian and Rodger as from reading the Queen forums a lot of them aren't happy with whoever is fronting the band if it's not Freddie

As for Adam being up his own arse, you don't know him and neither do I so it's difficut to tell, I guess you just have to speak as you find and from all I've seen and heard from Adam he's extremely supportive of many many musicians and artists and seems a pretty genuine guy .... and the majority of his peers seem to think so too ... everyone who works with him seems impressed by his work ethic and him as a person

KISS are god awful live now too - its a shame Adam flopped so badly over here that he has to rely on an aging pair of morons cashing in on something that died in 1991 to help him out career wise, they should of done what John Deacon did and retire to enjoy the fruits of his work, or done a separate project, there are many new bands out there that could do with a slot like that, but its a shame a novelty act as always (be honest this is all just a novelty act for two 60+ men to relive the old days) has to take that spot, even Paul Rodgers did away with them because he felt they were looking for a replacement.

In the rock/metal scene over here, there are better singers than Adam Lambert, who aren't just known being a one trick pony with a knack for very high vocal notes.

Queen died with Freddie, how it is.

Well said! I totally agree with you. As a fan of Adam, I'm really pleased for him. Also imo he's got an amazing voice and a great personality. He has always spoken, with great respect for Freddie Mercury and is far from being "up his own arse". Also, like you said I can understand Queen fans not being happy about anyone singing with Queen (in Freddie's position) but if Brian May and Roger Taylor want to perform every so often, then if it isn't Adam, it's going to be someone else. He's hardly going to turn them down is he?!

there are many new bands out there that could do with a slot like that,.
the "slot" is for a headline act so they wouldn't give it to a new band as they want a big name act to sell the tickets. ... Whilst there are obviously people who aren't happy with Brian and Rodger's choice, I'm sure there are plenty of people who are happy to buy the tickets and go and see Brian and Rodger perform with whichever front man they have chosen to ask to perform with them

Muse? Mastodon? Meshuggah? - I don't think two men who are five years off their pension and a complete unknown (face facts he is over here) are going to sell much tickets tbh, there previous tour with Paul Rodgers didn't do that great when it came to gate money (which doesn't include festivals or televised appearances)

I can understand Queen fans anger towards it, it smacks of desperation.

Having seen virtually every Kiss tour since the early '80s I'd disagree totally.

I went with @ 20 friends to see them in Birmingham on their Sonic Boom Over Europe tour a couple of years ago and we all agreed they were the best they've been since the mid-80s.

As for the rest of the line-up announced so far...

Queen - I do agree with you on this. I was at the Tribute show @ Wembley and to me that was a fitting end to the band.

Within Temptation - They were brilliant on their last tour in November, best gig I've been for for a long time and the fact the whole UK tour sold out justifies their slot.

Tim Minchin - When he played Sonisphere two years ago there were people stood 3 - 4 deep outside of the tent so many people wanted to see him so I can see why they've asked him back, especially with the success of Bill Bailey last year.

Mastodon, Lacuna Coil, Katatonia - Always good live, never seen any of them give a poor gig.

Sonisphere has always marketed itself as a Rock Festival, not specifically a Metal Festival, and so they have stated they want to push boundaries, for example Cypress Hill this year and for that reason I applaud what they are doing. To have genre specific festivals, like they all seem to be these days, is a very recent phenomenon and so to try to change paradigm I thinks a good thing.

Not huge Queen fan. loved their earlier to mid 70's stuff. Someone should take the two guys aside and have a word as it appears they will now sing for food. Records with 5ive are hardly reputation enhancing and now this.
Had never heard of this guy so I looked him up.
Oh dear. American Idol runner up. Were Gareth Gates or Darius booked up (British jobs for British workers)?
From listening to somoe of his stuff the only thing I can see he had in common with Mercury is that they are both chaps who know what they've got in their wardrobes. (c Roger Mellie)

Well I'm a fan of queen and Adam and have already got my tickets.
Have seen both live and it will be incredible.
The serious music critics seem to agree with me.
If you don't like Adam then you don't have to watch him do you ?
Simples.

I'm guessing Adam will perform a mini-set of his own tracks too.

The thing is Queen are a pretty much a beloved British institution and doing this is kind of like replacing Rowan Atkinson in Blackadder with one of the kids from the Suit Life of Zack and Cody.
Or David Jason with John Lequizamo in Fools and Horses....oh.

Doing one or two sets together doesn't mean he's replacing anyone. He's not Queen's "new lead singer" he's just been asked to perform with them as a guest. I think it's unfair that people think badly of Brian May and Roger Taylor for wanting to continue to perform Queen's songs every so often. Why should they never be able to perform them again?

Adam Lambert is 30 years old, and was a successful musical theatre actor before doing American Idol. And he's already performed with Queen a few times, so...

I don't have a problem with them playing their songs. I have a problem with them doing it under the Queen name when they are not that.
At least Deacon had enough dignity to leave the Queen thing alone rather than dilute it down for the sake of a few quid.

You wouldn't get the Rolling Stones replacing Jagger with Joe McElderry. Or Ringo and Macca replacing Lennon with Matt Cardle and still palm themselves off as being Beatles and Stones.

That's fair enough and I respect your opinion, on the first part. However, just because Adam was on AI doesn't mean he doesn't deserve respect for his talent, like any other artist. He is nothing like Joe McElderry or Matt Cardle. That's like saying Ke$ha is more talented than him because she got famous without going on a show. He may have needed AI as a platform but his voice is far better than most of the people in the charts today imo.

Like I said earlier I listened to some of his stuff and it was exactly the sort of pap I'd expect from an X factor or an American Idol. A blokey Kelly Clarkson.

Well, like alot of people on those shows, his first album was quite rushed however, as the thread is about a performance (covering Queen's songs) like I said earlier, his vocals are outstanding in my opinion:
