BT Vision just been installed - queries
I've just had BT Infinity and TV Vision installed. After the engineers left, I read the (scant) instruction leaflets, and I noticed that he'd plugged the Homeplug at the TV end into the surge protected extension lead, instead of the wall socket.
The Homeplug has three green lights, marked data, ethernet and power. The ethernet light flickers all the time; fast if I use Catch Up, slowly if the box is on stand-by. 1. Is there a problem with the Homeplug, or is the flickering normal? 2. If I switch the Homeplug off and plug it into the wall socket, will I have to "pair" the plugs again? 3. Is there a detailed description anywhere of how to operate the Vision box? I've managed to work out how most of the functions work, but all I can find on the net are high level descriptions. |

The Ethernet light is just showing that there is traffic. Wouldn't worry about it if you're getting the on demand OK.
You shouldn't have to pair them again unless there's a glitch or you add another one. All they seem to supply these days are the self install guides but there is a level of help on the box itself and you can always ask here or on the BT community forums. |

Thanks for the reply. I've moved the homeplug from the extension lead to the wall plug...after a couple of seconds, all the lights were green.
Going to 'Help' onscreen takes you to a video, which covers a number of topics, and isn't bad. However, being a single video rather than, say, an FAQ, if I want to refresh my memory I'd have to watch it all again. I've had a look at the BT Community forums, and they look useful. Thanks again. |

You should be able to get away with having a Homeplug plugged into an ordinary gang socket, but surge protectors block the signal, so that's an absolute no-no.
Better to avoid any potential problems by plugging the gang into the Homeplug rather than the other way round. |

Thanks guilbo
My extension lead is surge protected (and individually switched), so I've moved the homeplug to a wall socket. After a couple of seconds I had all three green lights on. |
