Which artists do you like that have really great songs but the albums they release are not to your liking?

For me it has to be

Jennifer Lopez
Whitney Houston
Celine Dion (apart from her Falling in you)
Kelly Clarkson (apart from Breakaway)
Usher

Every album that Rihanna has made is full of boring filler songs. But she does have some great singles (S&M, Unfaithful, Umbrella)

I don't often like "singles artists", I like listening to albums.

Id say Beyonce, she has a ton of great singles, Deja vu, Single ladies, Run the world, Crazy in love, Halo, but most of her albums are just boring and full of filler.

I hate when people say this about Rihanna Loud and GGGB where great albums and nearly every song off it could of been a single! In my opinion Rated R and TTT are great albums aswell, the only one that had a bit of filler for me was a girl like me

Have you heard My December? If anything its a phenomenal album without any song that has enough poppiness in it to be a single.

You cant seriously have Beyonce and Whitney on this list. Have you listened to her albums all the way through. Brilliance. I'd say JLO and Leona Lewis (for spirit, the singles were ace, but the album was simply a collection of love songs.)

I have

I did like it when i went through my "emo" phase but the minute i saw the light, the album had to go. Too many bad memories.

Kylie Minogue. Probably an unpopular choice, but I just have no interest in 90% of her album tracks and b-sides, whereas I absolutely love the vast majority of her singles.

I went through Whitney's albums last year and the majority of her albums have too much filler and are too average if you take out the best known hits.

Same here i only liked her singles from 1998-2008 and only one album track which was 'Fragile' taken from the Fever album.

I wouldn't say it's emo. I mean I don't really like any typically 'emo' artists. Its only emo in the sense that it is an emotional album/ But it's not self-indulgent like most emo music IMO.

A hell of a lot of pop/R&B-lite stars albums have been disappointing. Jennifer Lopez is number one on that list with Usher, Christina Milian, Amerie, JLS, Jason Derulo and more recently Nicole Scherzinger and Jessie J (but giving them the benefit of the doubt seeing they've only released one album)

Also Natasha Bedingfield

I'd say the opposite. They're brill IMO. Clive had to look far and wide for songs for her albums, as it was hard to find stuff she could sing that worked for a release. I love her album tracks, and love them over the singles (although I love the singles too).

Jessie J.

I'm a fan but oh my goodness her album is a pile of utter, utter shite.

I really hope her second is so so much better.

I agree with most already posted;

Rihanna except for loud, that was the most consistent for me
Nicole Scherzinger/ Pussycat Dolls (especially the 2nd album)
Whitney
Beyonce's first two album-Sasha Fierce and 4 are much more coherent
Jennifer Lopez
Leona Lewis
Pink's are usually 50/50
Kelly Clarkson except for Breakaway and AIEW
Mariah has always had some real dud tracks on her albums
Jessie J's album is shockingly bad!
One Directions and JLS's albums are terrible too

I recently downloaded TLC's discography, and I have to say aside from their big hits none of the tracks have that much of an impact. Quite a few of them are enjoyable, and their work has a good distinctive, consistent 'sound', however there is a lot of filler amongst their albums imo.

I agree, I didn't really even think Who's Laughing Now was a good single from the album. The only other song that hasn't been made a single that could be was Big White Room. And even at that, I'd be more keen on a studio version.

I also think Bruno Mars album is pretty weak. When you get past the 3/4 singles, the rest is pretty meh.

And I know I can't exactly make judgement since I haven't heard the album. But I have loved all of Emeli Sande's singles, and when I checked the Itunes previews, I was underwhelmed

Beyonce. I love her but her singles are far stronger than her albums.

I really like "4" but the ballads aren't great IMO. Love on Top, End of Time and Countdown are the standouts, the rest I'm not mad about. I didn't like ANY of the album tracks on I Am... either.

Beyoncé.
She's delivered some good singles, but her first three albums were 70% filler.
"4" was an improvement though.

I agree with your point about the ballads in particular. I love '4', find it very consistent in terms of it's 'sound' and have a soft spot for 'I Was Here', but I don't think any of slower-tempo songs are single-material.

Beyonce
Rihanna (apart from Rated R)
Cheryl Cole (singles are catchy but albums are filled with shite)
Christina Aguilera
