Does anyone else have this problem. My Samsung Ace - the second, in fact - keeps turning itself off for no apparent reason. When it first happened, I went to Phones 4 U where I had bought it and they reset everything. That seemed to solve the problem for a few days, but two days ago it started again and this time (all credit to them) they gave me a new one (it was bought on Jan 9).

I shan't try for yet a third one as I suspect it is a generic fault, but has anyone else had this problem. It is running Android 2.3.3. Is there, perhaps, a solution?

Also I am puzzled that after downloading Kies and attaching my phone, I am told that the model 'isn't supported'. That's odd because it is by no means an old model. I haven't actually tried connecting the new one so perhaps it was just the first phone which was at fault. But I somehow doubt that. Has anyone also had experience of their Ace 'not being supported'?

If you Google it, it's seems to be a common problem. If you've updated the firmware and it's still not working, take it back to the shop and ask for something else because it's not fit for purpose if it just switches itself off or reboots for no reason.

If Kies isn't working for you to update your phone, have you checked you've got the current version of that software too?

Yes, I thought I had, but what's different is that I was given a replacement which has exactly the same problem. That's why I posted afresh.

My SGII did this but it was the SD card causing the issue, now no longer using one and it works fine again.

After a bit of googling and one false start, I solved the problem by upgrading the Android OS to 2.3.5. According to Samsung this isn't possibe i.e. when you click 'software update' on he phone, it says 2.3.3 is the most up-to-date. But at this site I got simply instructions and the upgrade OS and successfully did it. And it was surpisingly simpler than I expected (after what I had read on other upgrades sites, most of whom simply wanted to make money from you in some way or another).
Not only does my phone no longer keep turning itself off, but the upgrade also seems to have made the battery life longer.
