Oh for goodness sake, every year the show is closed by an extended performance by the winner. I don't understand why people are getting so wound up by Adele not being able to finish her speech. She won the awards, got the recognition for her hard work, end of. I'm sick of Adele fans bringing her record sales into this argument when again, it's not relevant. Never did I say that the award for Blur was more important, merely that the performance is more important than a speech. Next time maybe attempt a debate with me instead of quoting my line and then saying okay because it was pretty pointless.
Well said!

Biggest award at the Oscars? Best Picture
Biggest award at the Grammys? Record of the Year
Biggest award at the Brits? British Album

Adele sold more albums in 2011 than Blur did in their entire career.

What "facts" are you referring to?
The "facts" I speak of are:

Seven albums over 20 years
28 singles

(Add to that Gorillaz, The Good The Bad The Queen, Mali Music, Monkey Journey to the West and Graham's solo work).

Compared to Adele's two albums and 8 singles.

Sure, in 2032 Adele may have released hundreds of albums and singles and have a lasting legacy and influence, but that's not the case at the moment.

Totally missing the point but whatevs. Girl band/girl group, call them what you want but they outsold most British acts in the 90s.

*Cannot believe I'm defending the Spice Girls lol*
Im not missing any point thank you, i read exactly what you wrote and understand what you were trying to say. But you were talking about 'acts', the poster said Blur was the best british BAND and the fact they had more critical success than most, then for some reason you went on about record sales for all these acts. Whether SGs or any other pop act sold more is completely irrelevant to what they were saying, a pop group is not the same as a band. Im not sure why you were gonig on about sales anyway, they clearly talked about critical success which is different to record sales.

The best moment was that she knew what was happening as soon as he started to speak. I feel really bad for her.

And I don't understand why you're getting so wound up.

For the record, who started this debate? You read one of my posts to another poster, took it out of context, made assumptions, and made a feeble argument which I called you upon. You try to clump me in with the "Adele fans" even though I've never actually expressed my feelings about the girl. So how did you come to that assumption? I don't even own her album. I am neutral in this "debate" and so am bringing in the only thing that can be objectively measured - facts. Anything else falls into the opinion category which (if you had read an earlier post of mine) I have absolutely no interest in.

So no, pet, you started this debate and, in my head, I am finishing it. Respond if you must, but be aware that very few people will read it and absolutely no one will give two hoots.

Yes they are facts. It's a shame they have absolutely no bearing on your original point.

The fact that you still don't understand why I was talking about sales shows that you clearly did miss the point.

Bored of this thread.

I don't believe I did make a feeble argument. My only point has ever been that the reaction to the cutting short of the speech was an over reaction by everyone. I really don't care who reads my posts, I'm not commenting on this forum to get fans or adulation. And kindly don't patronise me by calling me pet, it's an immature way to conclude an argument which I could've taken seriously.

Why do threads like these always become a stan or troll or argument thread?

Anyway, I still can't get over how Adele was treated! Disgusting!

Well said. Judging by the tone of the replies, "Dizzle" is obviously quite a rude and angry person.

The problem you have with this approach is Adele has sold more albums in 4 years than Blur have sold in 21 years (and Blur were in their pomp when people actually bought whole albums!) As the music industry is all about money generated your argument falls flat on its face. Plus Adele has far more global relevance than Blur (you only have to witness the column inches devoted to her speech being aborted all over the world and compare it to the coverage of Blur to realise this). The real mistake was made not stopping Albarn wittering on earlier in the evening
just to point out, damon albarn has sold more records than adele ( admittedly this probably wont be the case for much longer)

Ah no, plenty of people are. It happened, it's not going to change. Why cry over spilt milk? Yes I agree it should never have happened but moaning about it for days on end will do nothing.

I'm actually a huge Adele fan by the way. I just don't see the point in flogging a dead horse.

I don't see why.
It's probably been mentioned dozens of times but didn't she perform and give a speech earlier in the night?
What else would she have to say?
Maybe if she'd spent less time gibbering with Kylie she could have freed up some more time for later on?

Because it's the biggest scandal since Milli Vanilla were found not to be singing on their own records.

Of course it is.
Person who has already spoken and sung at an awards ceremony doesn't get to speak much second time at the podium really rivals the massive con that was Milli Vanilli.
