It's a re-release, bundling the first season along with the movie.

The first season was originally released over here on DVD in 2007.

You don't need to see the movie btw. It's another adaptation of the original novel. Closer to the novel than the series. A good watch, but not essential to the viewing of the series. You do get a few of the actors and actresses appearing in both though (the guy who plays Buddy, and Connie Britton spring to mind).

That's as dumb a statement as the one more frequently heard from Brits, that all American shows are rubbish.

But since I have watched and enjoyed S1, would you recommend the movie..gets good reviews on Amazon and relatively inexpensive. Or would I be disappointed having got used to the series ?

The movie is very good. I watched it after having already seen a few seasons of the TV show, and being a big fan of the TV show.

I think that as long as you go into the movie knowing that it's got nothing to do with the series then you'll be fine. On its own merits, it's a pretty good movie.

Still really enjoying the show. I hope they get the rights to season 3 onwards!

Excellent show. Flew through watching it late last year. Loved the ending too which made the whole five seasons even more worthwhile.

Really glad they've gone straight into season 2 after season 1. Anyone know how well it's doing, and if Sky are likely to get the rights to show the rest of the series?

I am absolutely loving this show.

I know nothing about American football but this doesn't matter a jot. It's such an emotional show I get drawn in by the characters every week. I've bawled at a good 60% of the episodes.

Coach Taylor and his wife are outstanding but while you're all milfing about Tami, I wanna go all cougar on Tim Riggings ass!

For people watching this on Sky Atlantic, just how unbearable is Julie getting? Last season she was complaining about moving because of her boyfriend and that is one of the reasons why Tami decided to stay in Dillon. Next season, she's flirting with the Swede and complaining that she doesn't want everything to be perfect.

Does she get worse than this? Definitely the worst character on the show.

Loving it too. It's really found it's stride in season 2, I'm hooked.

The acting is excellent. I'm a huge Coach Taylor fan or should I say Kyle Chandler fan.

I love the Landry and Tara storyline right now.

Kyle Chandler got an Emmy award for his role as Coach Taylor.

Finally broke Bryan Cranston's vulcan-like death grip on it, after three years!

FNL is one of those rare shows where you can't really identify any particular low points - it's just consistently brilliant.

Cranston would have won if he had been eligible.

I was so happy that she finally gave Landry some. Poor sod earned it.

This is true. Although, the competition Chandler beat out to win the award was still pretty impressive.

Watched it for the first time from the beginning on Sky Atlantic.

The jerky, zoom in, zoom out, documentary style, hand held camera shots really got me down. I've stuck with it and they stopped doing it.

Hope we get to see seasons 3-5.

That was the main thing that annoyed me while watching Season 1 but I'm glad they stopped doing it for the remaining seasons. Fantastic show.

Excellent news! I'm really loving this show. Felt so sorry for Riggins the other day when Taylor walked in on him putting Julie to bed and got the wrong end of the stick though. That kid can't do right for doing wrong...

Great news. I really enjoy this show. But the thought that we would be left hanging after the end of Season 2 was niggling in the back of my mind. Can watch the rest of this season safe in the knowledge that we will see the whole story.

PS
Sky Atlantic on Facebook/Twitter have confirmed this.

So glad Sky have picked up the next 3 seasons! I wouldn't have bothered with this show if it wasn't for people on here raving about it, doesn't sound appealing on paper. But I love it!
