I think it's more a case of you having too much time on your hands.
Nobody has a problem with constructive criticisms, but you seem to have a problem with their fans on DS (who are mostly adults who adore the boys) and supported them on X factor and are happy to see them doing so well. Is it wrong to celebrate their achievements? You started a negative thread because there were a few threads on the boys highlighting their achievements. It does get a bit tedious and puts some of their fans who simply want to come on DS to have a grown up discussion. You are free to start any thread if you want (same goes for Rose&Ribbon), but at least be a bit constructive. If reaction is what you are after, it's probably better to take it up with their fans on twitter, although I have a feeling you did and couldn't handle them. ![]() But thanks for demostrating the attitude I was taking about in the OP of this post. |

This thread I started about One Direction the other day is a PERFECT example of what I mean. It's already ten pages long! Quote:
To me, it seems more like the OD fans "invaded" the thread and are trying to out number and drown out anyone with anything critical to say. I welcome debate but I'm not so sure that's what is going on in that thread.
If you really wanted a debate, you could have been more diplomatic, bebz. Imagine being a 1D fan seeing that thread which is concomitant to a full frontal attack on an act you figuratively held to your bosom and nurtured against the crazed wolves of doom and gloom from the very Day One? No? I guess not. Then you retreat here and solicit sympathy against fans who cannot take the "slightest criticism"… You might also need a spanking new dictionary to show you what slight really mean!! Poor you... |

It's quite scary how obsessed people are with these music artists. If I like an artist, I like them.. but I can admit when they give a crap performance or if I don't like one of their songs.
Why not praise until the ends of the earth, someone important, like um.. your mother/child etc. Get in touch with reality. Damn. |

Poor you. I want to sympathise with your predicament but all i can think of is: 'silly girl, have you actually read the title of the thread you just started?' "Does anyone else think One Direction are absolutely awful and find them annoying?" And you did not see it coming, these tons of bricks falling down on you?

Again, people like you are just serving to highlight the very attitude I'm talking about.

people like me who will defend and won't allow our act to be disparaged in the main forum in a full frontal attack... you don't get it do you? calling someone "absolutely awful and annoying" is quite personal and full frontal dont cha think? still think it as "slight"?
Anyway, keep it up. This whole thing is quite amusing to me. |

Saying a product - which is what OD are - is absolutely awful and annoying is just as valid as saying they are brilliant and gorgeous.
Anyway, keep it up. This whole thing is quite amusing to me. ![]()

Would like to add Oasis to the list of fans who cant take critisism. Liam had an annoying voice and they are arragant ****s in my opinion.

i remember one poster here who would NOT hear a bad word said about chris brown, even to the point of joining the "rihanna probably deserved it" argument as well.
and i don't think they were trolling either .. |

i have to say that in all my years and in the numerous forums i have been in, i have come across no one as obsessive, bile filled and pathetically dedicated to someone they have never met as if_you_seek_amy. pathetic, obsessed and dilousional doesen't even begin to describe their gaga obsession. worryingly dedicated to their cause, thier posts are hillarious and, on topic...... give fans of an artist a bad name.....

They just seem to come out from under their bridge to make outlandish claims for the sole reason of bringing out the detractors in force. And it works !!!! |

and i don't think they were trolling either .. Thou shalt not worship false idols. Good advice from the good book and no one listened. All that unreciprocated adoration and hero worship only makes the unhinged worse and turns even the sane ones into mindless stans. |

Speaking of fan names, misha b (from x factor) is trying to make "queens&kings" happen and "team alien" ...... I dont get why people have to jump on that bandwagon... Cant people keep it simple.. Eg Pink says "fans/friends around the world" nice and simple lol

This. The thread on here where people are asked to put statements of other famous people extolling the 'talent' of someone who has been very successful on luck, good managment and a particularly good pop song that someone else wrote as if she is up there among the true greats and and legends leaves me flabbergasted. The desperation to find quotes to create some sort of hagiography is beyond belief - although there is a rather underwhelming number of quotes which more suggests that some have an unhealthy desperation to promote this artist beyond all reasonable critique.

I totally agree with the original poster.... you can be a loyal fan but still be objective and fair. I'm a huge fan of Michael Jackson and Britney Spears but that doesn't mean I can't recognise their flaws and mishaps etc.

I've noticed that it appears to affect adults a hell of a lot more than I remember when I was a teenager or in my twenties.
Now you can get adults acting like 13 year old children in the way they idolise pop stars. |

it does seem to me that fans of x factor artists are particularly defensive and obsessive. your post strengthens my continued suspicion.
The fans of 1D on the other hand don't seem to be all that bad on DS—I get the impression that the really rabid young ones are more active on twitter and Facebook than DS. |

From what I've seen on these forums, Beyoncé fans are pretty bad at handling criticism of their favourite.
