Poor you. I want to sympathise with your predicament but all i can think of is: 'silly girl, have you actually read the title of the thread you just started?' "Does anyone else think One Direction are absolutely awful and find them annoying?" And you did not see it coming, these tons of bricks falling down on you?
If you really wanted a debate, you could have been more diplomatic, bebz. Imagine being a 1D fan seeing that thread which is concomitant to a full frontal attack on an act you figuratively held to your bosom and nurtured against the crazed wolves of doom and gloom from the very Day One? No? I guess not.
Then you retreat here and solicit sympathy against fans who cannot take the "slightest criticism"… You might also need a spanking new dictionary to show you what slight really mean!! Poor you...

That is exactly the right attitude. I like Genesis for instance, but I don't like their song 'Mama', I just don't get it.

Saying a product - which is what OD are - is absolutely awful and annoying is just as valid as saying they are brilliant and gorgeous.

Would like to add Oasis to the list of fans who cant take critisism. Liam had an annoying voice and they are arragant ****s in my opinion.

i remember one poster here who would NOT hear a bad word said about chris brown, even to the point of joining the "rihanna probably deserved it" argument as well.

i have to say that in all my years and in the numerous forums i have been in, i have come across no one as obsessive, bile filled and pathetically dedicated to someone they have never met as if_you_seek_amy. pathetic, obsessed and dilousional doesen't even begin to describe their gaga obsession. worryingly dedicated to their cause, thier posts are hillarious and, on topic...... give fans of an artist a bad name.....

There is a view that they are NOT a Gaga fan at all and in fact are quite the opposite. They have never posted on the AT thread and no fan would actually agree with them.

They just seem to come out from under their bridge to make outlandish claims for the sole reason of bringing out the detractors in force. And it works !!!!

Speaking of fan names, misha b (from x factor) is trying to make "queens&kings" happen and "team alien" ...... I dont get why people have to jump on that bandwagon... Cant people keep it simple.. Eg Pink says "fans/friends around the world" nice and simple lol

That is exactly the case. And some of the people they have cited aren't very good themselves anyway, such as Bono.

I totally agree with the original poster.... you can be a loyal fan but still be objective and fair. I'm a huge fan of Michael Jackson and Britney Spears but that doesn't mean I can't recognise their flaws and mishaps etc.

Welcome to the internet, it isn't that they didn't exist before, it's simply that you didn't know anything about them on a personal level. Now with forums, Facebook, Twitter etc, it's much easier to get into someone else's space.

I really notice this with the fans of Matt Cardle in the XF forum. They seem to have awfully big chips on their shoulders.

The fans of 1D on the other hand don't seem to be all that bad on DS—I get the impression that the really rabid young ones are more active on twitter and Facebook than DS.

From what I've seen on these forums, Beyoncé fans are pretty bad at handling criticism of their favourite.

Lady Gaga fans.
