Serious enquiry about hairs sticking up......
This might sound like a strange question:
For the last couple of years 100’s of hairs on my head stick out above the rest. My hair is extremely thick and wavy, and I like to keep it short and tidy. Hairdressers have tried cutting my hair with scissors and or with trimmers, but the results are always the same: Within a matter of minutes individual hairs start to stick straight up making my hair look ridiculous. If I were to cut the protruding hairs, it makes no different and a whole new bunch of hairs will stick up. This wouldn’t be so frustrating if it wasn’t for the fact that this has only been happening for a couple of years. Sorry if I sound like I am overeating but this whole ritual of trying to flatten my hair on a daily bases using scissors and some of the best expensive gels known to man is really getting me down! I would really like to hear from any hair experts here that can give me some serious advice rather than just shave my head. Can you imagine going to the hairdressers, and by the time you get home it looks like you need a haircut again? I feel like im the only person on the planet with this issue! Thanks |

Not quite sure about mens hair and I'm not a hairdresser, but what about straighteners? You can get slim ones which get right to the root and you can basically force it to lie how you want it! I often get the same thing, and my hair looks 'bumpy' when I tie it up, I find that straightening it is the only thing that works.

That’s an interesting option. I wonder how many blokes do that? Not many im guessing, but if needs must! I wonder if that is now my only other sensible option. |

I'm not male, but I've had the same thing since I was a kid. I just put up with them. They are very annoying, though.
I've mainly had long hair in my life and these hairs are about an inch long. |

Hi Jerrica
That’s an interesting option. I wonder how many blokes do that? Not many im guessing, but if needs must! I wonder if that is now my only other sensible option. If you don't have a set at home from wife/girlfriend you could go somewhere like Toni & Guy, they could do it for you and see if you like the results, before investing in the kit. Good luck ![]() Edit, oh and you don't necessarily need slim straighteners, I don't know why I said that, they all straighten from the roots! I suppose I was thinking that with short hair you don't need wide plates or anything but they'll all do the job. (ghd's are best though if you can get hold of a pair!) |

Thanks Anyhoo, they sound like normal re-growth baby hairs or maybe some static. Try rubbing a bounce tunmble drier sheet over your head, see if that works. My hair curls from the root and is the bain of my life. When Ive washed it I put olive oil through it, brush it flat and wear a really tight cap to force it to lie flat against the scalp. Have you tried that?? |
